Well after a 10 hour flight we arrived at Arena Leme at 9:45a.m. to my understanding breakfast ends at 10 am. We were of course hungry, during checkin I asked if my daughter and I could grab breakfast. Anna at reception was very rude stating it’s not included for the day but she can charge me more. Really? Never a welcome or a smile from her. She proceeded to give us a room with a view of the back of a decaying building and a stopped up sink. There was no mention from them that Rio would go into a full shut down the following day. We learned this by walking the strip. We rushed to see major monuments in a few hours. When we returned the gentlemen, can’t remember his name, was very kind. Greeted us with a smile and once told about the sink he upgraded us to a beachfront. Now this hotel is in a nice area and we felt safe at all times. However I’m rated them 2 bc due to shut down all restaurants were closed so my daughter ordered fries from restaurant next door and I wanted to eat on the rooftop and order food from the hotel. We were again greeted rudely by a short women with hair in a ball wagging her finger saying” no no no no no”. You can’t bring food there but all restaurants are closed. You are our home away from home but ur country is shut down unbeknownst to us until we arrived and u want us to eat in our room. You don’t speak English but there’s no hesitation to be mean. The only English word you know is NO. That’s right you have NO hospitality!! Breakfast had flies!
