Top Roman Army Museum Hotel Reviews
Carlisle Station Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by BW
10/10 Excellent
"The room was very clean, and the lighting was fantastic, with a decent centre light that could be turned on and off from the bed. Decent bedside lamps, which worked well; none of the single candle power when the hotel was run by Hallmark. Having had nightmares with those stupid plastic key cards in the past, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the wooden version worked to perfection every time we used it. Would other hotels please take note! One thing I would comment on is that one has to ask for our room to be cleaned. I don't have a problem with that. But it would be useful if there was somewhere where we could put our plastic bags of rubbish each morning. I particularly liked the idea of being given tickets to show we had paid for our breakfast. At £10 each were excellent value for money. The yoghurt is to die for, as are the croissants. I have eaten many croissants over the years, and believe me, these are the best. It was also good to see a nice selection of fruit already prepared. We didn't try the tea, coffee, or hot chocolate; we prefer fruit juice, which is excellent, with just the correct amount of sweetness. I did have a bit of an argument with the orange dispenser; we obviously did not speak the same language! It was great that there was a choice of fried or scrambled eggs. Hubby did enjoy the sausage and bacon, but he was a bit put out that there were no mushrooms! There were also tomatoes, hash browns and baked beans on the menu."

"Just a fabulous stay excellent location"
Crown and Mitre Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"It's an old hotel, but its clean, tidy and the staff are great. Rooms vary, some are bigger than others. Location couldn't be any better for the centre of Carlisle. On this occasion we were on the fourth floor which does require some stair climbing (there is one lift, it holds four people and is usually occupied by confused old people), rooms are a little smaller on that floor, although the bathroom was huge. Water pressure wasn't fantastic but was okay for a couple of night stay. Last time I stayed on the third floor and the room was a little bigger and althought the bathroom was smaller, no issues with water pressure. Bar is great, not expensive and the bar food is good quality fresh food (didn't try the restaurant). Parking is free, but is limited - you're probably okay arriving before 5PM weekdays, but weekends is busier - there is an underground pay car park literally 300 yards away, so no big deal if you can't get in."

"Lovely property on a working farm. Had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. Very peaceful with fantastic views. Hot tub was excellent. A minor issue with the shower that was quickly resolved by the owner."
Ox Hotel Carlisle
10/10 Excellent
"The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The beds were really comfortable, breakfast was very comprehensive and nice. The place is a little run down, but looks as though it’s being improved. Great value for the price, would definitely stay there again. They do do evening meals in the bar although their website doesn’t say so."

"Excellent food& good selection of local beer. Staff were brilliant , very helpful & friendly. Only downside is the room was a little dated, but clean & comfortable. We do intend to return."
Centre of Britain Hotel & Restaurant
10/10 Excellent
"Cannot rate this place highly enough. We felt very welcomed here, nothing felt like a hassle. Every single one of the staff members we encountered were lovely. The kids loved the room, very fun layout with a mezzanine level for their beds, lots of games of hide and seek were had! Food deserves a special mention, beautiful dining room with lots of light. The dinner menu was great, ample choice of plant based meals which is nice to see, although we couldn't resist the meat options on this trip. Star of the show has to be the breakfast, made to order, very well presented and absolutely delicious. If I could give it 20 stars I would! We'll definitely be back."
