The position is very central for the town and no hills to climb! Lovely food too. Highly recommended, my only comment would be that we stayed on a very hot night so had the windows wide open (the room had a Dyson fan as well) and we could hear the customers in the outside area until quite late, though I would add that The Fortescue provide ear plugs! Loved our stay at The Fortesque, we had a great room which was well furnished with a lovely bathroom. Brilliant breakfast and we also sampled their takeaway pizzas and ate in the pub on our last night which was lovely. Staff was very nice and helpful. The food was good and the room very comfortable (great bed, warm, newly refurbished, choice of tea and herbal infusion). Amazing room with the biggest bath I've ever seen! Only 3 rooms above this pub, heard a little bit of noise from the pub downstairs but nothing much. Great location with everything Salcombe has to offer only minutes away (defiantly make your own gin at the local distillery). Fantastic quality rooms fitted out in a modern style. Excellent location right in the town and a short stroll to the gin factory. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Great breakfast and decent pub food too. Parking is a issue in salcombe & no spaces were available at the car park that the pub has a permit for. However we parked for free down the road within a 10 minute stroll along the estuary. Exterior room with twisting flight of steps may not suit everyone. Smart contemporary bathroom but no spare toilet rolls and toilet constantly refilling cistern was noisy at night. Didn't buy breakfast so cannot comment on that. Room overpriced. Glimpse of harbour from door was welcome. Very central in Salcombe.
