Great stay!

The property was everything we could hope for. Close to the beach and stunning views. Mark was quick to respond to questions and we could tell he wanted our stay to be great. Would go back in a heartbeat!

We had the best stay here, Mark was always very quick to respond and gave tons of pointers and suggestions. Quick drive to town, Brian with Island Golf Carts was amazing as well. He gave us lots of pointers and info as well. Memo was spectacular and easy to communicate with. He handled all of our tours and getting us to and from. Very clean and nice place and had everything you could possibly need!! Will definitely want to return!

Great location and would recommend a golf cart over a car. Unit itself is perfect for 4, and has all you need for a stay. Beach is a bit rocky in the middle but both ends have quality sand and plenty of room to swim around and play. Security is always present, and there are some pools on the property that are ideal if one needs a beach break.I"d argue this was probably the best host we"be worked with. Communication is prompt and he does al in his power so the experience is perfect.The nearby restaurant is very good, and the 10 min gold cart tide to Coco was fun for the kids too. Convenient groceries and shoppes all in Coco, so one can get all the need rather quickly.And if you love seafood -- there is a fish market only about a 4 min golf cart ride away and the selection is top notch.

An Unforgettable Stay at Los Almendros in Playa Ocotal, Costa Rica!Wow – what an amazing experience! Our stay at Los Almendros in Playa Ocotal was nothing short of perfect. The location is absolutely beautiful – tucked into a peaceful area with breathtaking views and just steps away from the stunning beach. The sand, the waves, the sunsets… everything felt like a dream.The condo had EVERYTHING we needed. It didn’t lack a single thing – fully equipped, clean, comfortable, and clearly cared for with love. It truly felt like a home away from home.Anytime we had a question or needed something (even something small), the host responded immediately. The level of hospitality was truly top-notch – you can tell they genuinely care about making your stay perfect.Our kids loved every second of it – from the beach to the pool to exploring the area. It’s rare to find a place that makes the entire family this happy, but Los Almendros did exactly that.We’re already talking about our next trip back – we will absolutely be returning. Beautiful Stay

We started our vacation for 4 nights here at this condo. Everything was just as described. We loved snorkeling a few feet away and we were grateful for the equipment that was at the condo. It is well furnished and has everything you need for a beach vacation. We loved our stay and will be returning.

Great location, great vacation

Thank you Mark and Cheryl for opening up your condo, this has been one of my best vacations. This is my first time to Costa Rica and I’ll definitely be returning. Loved the people, the culture, the food, the weather and exploring the various sitesYour condo was very comfortable and has everything one could possibly need. mark provided great information and quick response to any questions I had. It made getting established a lot easier.Your recommendations to use Memo to book any adventures was great advice, especially liked the river tour. Visited a number of beaches and Ocotal is still one of my favourites and probably the best so far for snorkelling. Heading home with great memories.I’m going to miss the early mornings and sunsets on the Lanai, you never get tired of the view especially at sunset.Looking forward to returning.Pura Vida

Great location for snorkeling from shore.

Great place. Accommodations were impeccable. The staff were very friendly and did a fantastic job patrolling the property. There is a hill you need to walk down to get to the beach but it’s not horrible- I’m having my knee replaced in 2 months and it was not a problem for me.

Perfect condo complex steps from a clean beach

If you are looking for a low key location where the beach is clean and not too crowded, this is it! The closet of snorkeling gear was a big plus also as was the pool access. We’d stay here again. 4 stars on location/neighborhood only because there isn’t really a “neighborhood”. You need to go in to Coco for groceries and such. Father Roosters is the only restaurant within walking distance (which is worth a visit for a cocktail or dinner). We also used Memo from MemoAdventures twice and he was great. Highly recommend it!

Tropical Retreat

Wonderful home and location. Mark was "spot-on" with description of property and provided prompt feedback on any questions. If you are looking for a local flavor...this is your spot. A typical day, sunny and 90 walk to the beach...swim, sun and snorkel. Then walk to one of three pools and enjoy the fresh water. Enjoy the wildlife of lizards, birds and monkeys as you walk around a well kept property. Finish the evening with drinks and dinner at Roosters next door or take a quick taxi ride to Coco 2-1/2 miles away where you have a nice variety of options. Thank you again for sharing this beautiful place with us.

Pura Vida Paradise!

We had a great week in paradise. Mark was by far the best host; great communications and extremely responsive. His recommendations were very helpful. The condo was well stocked (especially all the beach gear) and comfortable. Loved our time on the patio, especially watching the sunsets. We enjoyed the infinity pool and the larger pool on site and countless hours on the beach. The hike up to the condo provided great exercise every day. Memo was amazing to work with. He provided transportation to and from the airport and took us to the Sloth Sanctuary - great tour. We enjoyed Father Roosters for drinks and food on the beach and Mar Azul and Sugoi for dinners. We highly recommend Mark and Cheryl’s home! Pura Vida!

Steps from the beach

This is a clean, stocked, and organized 2 bedroom condo unit. The on property beach access is a short 5 minute walk down the hill. The condo overlooks the small bay (probably a caldera of a long ago volcano) and has great sunset views. The staff of the condo association are nice and friendly. Mark was easy to get a hold of for a question through the VRBO messaging app. We brought our Roku, and easily set up our entertainment in the living room. Plenty of seating on the couch, love seat. The refrigerator is full size, and clean. All the extra amenities are there, just as described. We would absolutely rent this condo again!

Beat high expectations!

We chose this condo because of the location but also the kayaks, snorkeling gear and bicycles. All the gear made the condo a real bargain. We appreciated the welcome bag of coffee and that there was laundry detergent (we did not have our own vehicle but took a taxi to Playa del Coco for a meal and groceries every other day). The kitchen was well stocked. Our children enjoyed watching some of the dvd's in the evenings when they tired from all the fun activity of the day. The beach and pools were an excellent combination. The water was clean and warm in both locations and close by. The house also had nice clean hot water with a great rainforest shower! We enjoyed seeing and hearing the howler monkeys in the tree right next to the deck. The property manager, Mark, was terrific at communication from the very start providing helpful information. Thanks to the property and Mark for an excellent start to our vacation.

BOOK Now. Paradise is an understatement.

What a wonderful experience! From the moment we booked, Mark has been an excellent host. He helped us plan our trip as if he were our own personal travel buddy! The condo is the most well equipped we have stayed in. The snorkels and kayaks were our personal favorites. We loved that the kitchen had any gadget we needed as well. The view is out of this world. Superb. We booked our trips through Memo. Most certainly do that! We loved Adrian and the guys down at Father Rooster as well. The taxi into Coco was inexpensive and we did that multiple times. When we bring our girls back, we will rent a golf cart. Cleanest beach in the area! Do yourself a favor and BOOK NOW!

Relaxing, Peaceful & Friendly

What a great spot! The view each morning and evening was wonderful to take in. It is a beautiful quiet haven and is only a 10 minute ride to the busier del Coco. The host has thoughtfully arranged and supplied almost everything you might need (snorkel gear, chairs, generously supplied kitchen utensils, the list goes on). Lots of good spots to watch the sunset and a few other beaches to walk along as well. We liked Playa Ocotal as we weren’t bothered as much by vendors. Restaurants: Father Roosters on the beach is another awesome feature. In del Coco you have to go to Sol et Fuente - a unique experience. The Look Out at the top of one of the hills is pretty awesome too (5minite drive). We met lots of really nice people who either owned or rented at Los Almendros. They were all very friendly and welcoming. The staff were very attentive and informative. The grounds and upkeep are well managed. Honestly, we’ll be back again and would recommend this place to anyone.

You will have a great time

Had a amazing vacation in Playa Ocotal. The condo is walking distance to the beach and multiple pools. We spent many hours snorkeling right from the beach. Spotted lots of colorful fish, multiple varieties of starfish, even an octopus and eel. Most days we had excellent visibility. Many beautiful birds and on a couple of occasions were lucky enough to see the howler monkeys. Also a good place to stargaze, we saw the Starlink satellites from the beach one evening. The complex at Los Almendros is well maintained and quiet. Father Rooster's on the beach had great musicians a few times a week. If you are looking for a lively night Playas del Coco is an inexpensive 10 minute taxi ride into town. The unit had everything you needed and Mark the owner was in quick communication whenever we had a question or concern. Only difficulty we had was that the property was at the top of a short, steep hill. This we felt sometimes limited our activity. Overall we had a wonderful, memorable trip.

Ten Out of Ten

I just left after three weeks in paradise. The first was all to myself, my sister came for week 2 and two friends for week 3. We all loved everything about this special place. Our unit has the best location for the sunsets and views. It's also one of the quietest because at the end of the top of the hill. This condo had everything we needed plus some. The blender for frozen drinks was very much appreciated as were the bikes and snorkeling gear. Mark, the owner couldn't have been more attentive and responsive to any of our questions or requests. The screened in porch was the icing on the cake. Magpies visited every morning and the howler monkeys made several appearances. Having two bathrooms with two bedrooms was a key feature as well as the guest safe and the modern a/c. After checking out a few other places while there just to compare I found nothing that compared to where I booked. Thank you Mark & Cheryl for providing such an amazing place and top notch service.

Perfect

This was the 6th and final stop along our Costa Rica vacation. It was honestly a last minute booking to allow us to be closer to the airport for our final 3 days. It did not disappoint whatsoever. Firstly I want to thank Mark for going out of his way to communicate with us about everything at his place, including items that were just conversational and had nothing to do with our stay. He truly cares that you enjoy his place as much as he does, can't say the same for every place we stayed. Amazing job thank you Mark. When the listing says there is snorkeling gear for your use, it doesn't capture the fact there is an entire closet of gear to pick and choose from, there is something for everyone. Every detail about the listing is accurate, we truly were happy with everything. The unit is clean, very safe (armed guards at the gate, 24/7 security checks) and a 1 minute walk to a black and brown sand beach that you can enjoy with your family. We liked this location so much we even had a viewing of one location for sale while on vacation, it's truly a wonderful place. Thanks Mark, pura vida!!!

Amazing Property

Mark was extremely helpful, especially since it was our first time to CR. The property is very comfortable and family friendly. The big bonus is 2 separate bedrooms and bathrooms. You don't find in hotels. Everything we needed was onsite. We arrived after hours and checkin was a breeze. The screened in porch offers an unforgettable sunrise, especially with your morning CR coffee. Off to the beach with the kayaks, which our 2 sons enjoyed. The next day we used the cooler to pack food for a fishing excursion and the waterproof bag for the kayaking. Both fishing trips were a very short walk to the beach. The front office was very friendly and helpful to answer questions and assist with transportation if needed. This is the perfect beach for quiet relaxing, snorkeling, kayaking and fishing. The dinner table overlooks the beach and forest area, where we spotted a family of monkeys. The entire complex had beautiful blooming shrubs, plants, and a variety of trees, all beautifully maintained. The equipment Mark and Cheryl provide is an amazing asset to the trip. Most places only have the basics, but this condo has it all. Los Almendros is a very beautiful little community with easy access to the beach. We are at Father Rooster's twice, as they will prepare your freshly caught fish for a set up (salad, rice, beans, plantains) charge. We absolutely loved our accommodations and CR. We will be back and hope to stay in this condo again soon.

Terrific location and exceptional host!

We're big fans of Los Almendros de Ocotal - the quality snorkelling, the safe and comfortable accommodations, the pretty grounds with visiting wildlife and the beach/ocean view. So for our third trip to Costa Rica we were very excited to find Mark and Cheryl's place. What Mark has added to this excellent location is an incredible set of amenities that enabled us to get to town more easily and inexpensively, cook with ease, and lighten our luggage - three huge benefits that made our trip that much more relaxing and fun. He has the condo so wonderfully set up, I challenge you to use even a fraction of the amenities. Our favourites were the two bikes with baskets and lock, the quality binoculars (so we didn't need to pack ours), the washing machine with laundry soap provided, the umbrellas and flashlights, the GPS and the vegetable steamer insert. We always bring our own snorkelling gear and wetsuits but his snorkelling closet reminded me of a dive op. We walked both the first steep downhill and the two subsequent uphills and still biked to town in 25 min (20 min to the wonderful outdoor pizza restaurant La Caveja) - once past those little hills it was an easy and cool ride. The AC and fans worked perfectly, there was great water pressure, and the rain shower heads in the two renovated bathrooms were a treat. I am sure every VRBO/rental we stay at in the future, we will be comparing the hosts to Mark. He is simply amazing - the most responsive, thoughtful and clear communicator we have ever had the pleasure to work with. Day and night, even for little things, he answers with light speed with a wealth of helpful information. Seriously I have stayed at hotels with large teams that were slower to respond than he was! Thanks for everything, Mark. It was a pleasure staying with you. We hope to stay with you again.

Absolutely perfect — better than 5 stars!We had an amazing stay at this condo. The location was unbeatable — just a short walk to a beautiful beach with fantastic snorkeling right off the shore. The swimming was great, and our family especially loved the rock jumping! There’s even a restaurant right on the beach, making it feel like a true paradise.The condo itself was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. It was perfect for our family of four. We really appreciated the extras, like snorkeling gear and kayaks, which made it easy to enjoy the water every day.Mark was an outstanding host — incredibly communicative and helpful from start to finish. He answered every question promptly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay.If we could give more than 5 stars, we would!

Simply Amazing

Everything about our stay was phenomenal. The staff were friendly and helpful, the condo was clean, spacious and had amazing views, and the beach was incredible. This was an amazing beach location for our family. Our communication with Mark was great. He provided all the information we needed and more. He helped us connect with a driver as we opted not to drive while in Costa Rica. Any questions we had were responded to promptly. I highly recommend!

I felt like I was at home!

Our first trip to Costa Rica and we found the best place to stay. The condo is in a great location with a lot of security! We felt 100% safe! It is big with two bedroom, two baths. The kitchen is well equipped so you can cook some of your own meals. It’s nicely decorated and very clean. My husband and I agreed that this was the nicest Vrbo we have ever stayed in. So many restaurants that are close, one a walk away ( Fathers Rooster) Great fish and chips. Mark and his wife have thought of everything with so many amenities and were so helpful with a lot of information! Anything you can think of for the beach, they have it! All of his recommendations were spot on! He also hooked us up with some reputable tour guides. We rented a golf cart from Brian for the week, it was a perfect way to get around and he’s the nicest guy! We hired Memo for rides back and forth to the airport and two tours. His son, Fernando was terrific! We couldn’t have asked for more knowledgeable, honest, kind people. They stopped at the grocery store for us on our way to the condo from the airport which was so sweet. They stopped to let us shop for some souvenirs on our way back to the airport. I cannot say enough good things about the condo or the tour guides. We went to La Leona waterfall and the sloth sanctuary. Both were amazing! A lot of wild life to be seen from the condo with a great view yet very peaceful! Thanks to Mark for being so communicative and helpful. We loved our trip!
