I had the most terrible experience and am so sad to share they didn't care!
My best friend and I had booked a weeks stay at this resort to celebrate my 60th birthday and the night before we were to leave Delta called and had to cancel all flights due to severe weather in the area which was all over the news.
We were devestaed and heatbroken as we had planned for this bucket list trip for months, but the situation was out of our control.
We began the laborious task of calling all the hotels, restaurants and winerys we had booked to cancel our reservations and every single place we called, were so kind and refunded all of our money as obviously they understood beacuse they were the ones dealing with the terrible weather...everyone that is, EXCEPT RANCHO CAYMUS.
Unfortunately they would only offer us a travel credit for when or IF we ever returned. Undertand that was NO REFUND for $1,200 when it was an "act of God" and no fault of our own.
I explained to them that my poor friend who was also scheduled to go with me, currently takes care of her 98 year old dying mom and sister with late stage Parkinson’s and she had to “move mountains “ to try and make this trip happen for my birthday, God knows when we’ll get to do it again. But the hotel never even bothered to responded to this.
No one was more upset about canceling this trip than us , but it was an act of God...A weather event totally out of all of our control.
