The room was very clean (there were a couple of marks staining the duvet, but otherwise spotless). Despite the car park being full, indicating that lots of others were staying, it was quiet and we weren’t disturbed. It was quite busy even on a Tuesday late afternoon and they still did their job well even though there was only 2 of them front of house. The Marston Inn room adjacent to the Highland Gate was okay for our one night stay and for the value of what we paid. The rooms could be doing with a spruce up, the skirting board for example wasn't the cleanest. The bathroom panel etc was a bit scruffy and not sure who does your maintenance but a standard round shaped toilet seat has been fitted to a square pan!! Not very comfortable and not nice to look at. The toilet hadn't been cleaned properly inside the bowl which was a bit off putting as it made me think the rest wouldn't have been cleaned correctly.
