"A lovely stay that exceeded our first impressions! We chose this hotel as a base for our visit to Alton Towers, and overall we had a really pleasant stay. Arriving at around 10:30pm, with the surrounding streets almost deserted, we did wonder what we’d booked ourselves into! 😂 Thankfully, our initial apprehension was completely unnecessary. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the convenient parking was a real bonus. The building itself is quite old, which brings plenty of character, with lovely high ceilings and some beautiful period features. Of course, with an older building come a few quirks, including some slightly musty smells in places. We booked a family room and were delighted to discover that it was actually two separate rooms, each with its own bathroom. This was a lovely surprise and worked brilliantly for us as a family. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated and felt very clean. The bathrooms, however, would benefit from a little more attention to detail when it comes to cleaning. Breakfast was another positive, with plenty of choice for everyone. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by our stay. The hotel has plenty of character, the staff were lovely and the accommodation was much more spacious than we’d expected. There are a few areas that could benefit from some attention, but these certainly didn’t spoil our visit. We’d happily consider staying again when visiting Alton Towers."

"Absolute gem of a hotel, everything worked: charging sockets, lights, comfy bed, enormous bathroom! The decor was magnificent, never seen staircases like it! Wonderful staff , no complaints at all"

"After staying here last year we were so excited to be returning for a Halloween themed weekend. This really is an amazing place for a get together and has everything you need. We were met by Martin and Julie on arrival who were absolutely lovely , we did have some disappointment when we were informed that no guests can currently use the bedrooms in the castle and feel this could have been told to us prior to arrival , as this would have avoided any misunderstanding. However , this did not detract from our enjoyment of this fabulous castle and we would love to return once the bedrooms are available again . Would also like to express our thanks for the very kind gift dropped off by Martin , these really were appreciated . Weren’t lucky enough to meet any ghostly residents this time but there is always next time . Thank you and look forward to returning soon ."
