We enjoyed the location and charm. However, several basic repairs need to be taken care of and housekeeping is missing details. The bathroom vent in our room was heavily coated in dust. Quality of stay is reflected in the price.
Lovely , nice staff, small town , dining options very limited. TV was tiny, water pressure was terrible, but its a very old building that probably didnt have running water when it was built so its all been retro fitted. Absolutely beautiful view.
This stay was disappointing. When we arrived, we immediately noticed that the building is in a run down state. The pictures online were very strategic in getting all the good sides.
The room: standard room, floors riddled with stains, staining on the ceiling from some water leakage, view directly to a giant garbage bin with a mattress thrown into it. One night we heard some noises from the pipes in the room, and it did not sound like water.
The first night we arrived they only had two meals remaining on the menu for us to choose from. Food was surprisingly good though.
Parking is a fend for yourself, you just park where
It’s an old hotel with modern upgrades so very clean and comfortable. Staff were very helpful and the food was good. The scenery is fantastic. We would happily stay there again.
Very tired hotel, seriously lacking staff though those there were very good. Only 1 draught beer available and pump hardly working, breakfast was very nice but overall needs effort from upper management/ owners.
Hotel was clean ,our bedroom was clean ,requested a sea view and it was lovely watching the boats ,some stopping to fish and others just sailing by, staff were all so friendly and helpful and nothing was a bother to them, there was also plenty of variety for breakfast,we had a lovely time. Only issue was drinking water was not too good.

Problems with hot water in room. Rooms basic but clean. Breakfast buffet basic but adequate. Hotel looks tired.
Staff very good, especially Niamh at reception.
Beautiful seaside Victorian hotel! Staff were stretched thin but very friendly, dinner and breakfast were great, high ceilings in the room, stunning views out the large original windows. Some parts of the room could maybe use a deep sanitize clean, bathroom had an odd aroma. Room and hotel were well appointed otherwise. The walk down to the lifeboat station at sunset was 👌and the hike to Dunskey castle the next morning was incredible.
The Portpatrick hotel is situated on the hill above the small harbour of Portpatrick . The staff are pleasant and helpful. The hotel has the ambience of a grand old Victorian house. There is a piano lounge with a door out to the terrace over looking the harbour with views of the harbour and across the Irish Sea . There are steps down to the village with its bars and restaurants and play area for children . It is very well placed for Portpatrick golf club . The food , whilst a limited choice was very nice and the breakfast buffet was excellent. There is a games room with a pool table and a bar which is quite well stocked. There is a decent amount of free parking. The outstanding aspect for me though is the views . The Mountains of Morne were visible across the sea and the sunsets amazing. It’s worth the drive to get there.

Lovely modern bedroom with beautiful view.
Staff were very eager to please.
Main areas felt tired.
Limited menu and wine list, bit uninspiring.
Had a great time, the chef Ian is an amazing cook food was delicious, his lovely wife tash served us dinner and drink’s and kindly wrote down place’s to visit. All the other staff were happy smiley especially the young staff Olivia from reception and Josh serving breakfast. The excellent staff definitely make’s the hotel a great place to visit.

The hotel is in a marvellous position overlooking Portpatrick. It's rather dated but comfortable and extremely good value for money. The supper menu was rather limited and service rather slow. We appreciated the upgrade to a superior room with sea view. The big disappointment though is now being charged for parking there, which was never the case at a previous stay. Hotels don't normally charge for parking in their own grounds.
