Rhys' River Valley - Beautiful mountain views, hot tub, flowing river, and family getaway

Sleeping Accommodations: Rhys River Valley has three bedrooms, but one additional private sleeping area.
Main Level: Master Queen, Queen Room
Lower Level: Master King, Bunk Room with three Twins, Room with Queen Sleeper Sofa

Hike or take a short drive to the river from this popular 2300 sq ft custom log cabin surrounded by 20 acres close to downtown Boone, with pool table, air hockey, outdoor fireplace, central AC, hot tub and kids play area overlooking the valley.

This beautiful home has many extras, from the hand-hewn logs, hand-made rhododendron porch railings, tongue & groove paneled wall and ceilings in every room, stacked-stone wood-burning fireplace, and wormy hardwood floors.

This impressive 2300 square foot log cabin is absolutely beautiful both inside and out. The exterior, what with its log and chinked walls and exposed hand-hewn beams on the fifteen foot high cathedral ceiling porch, makes for a truly wonderful appearance. The porch has wickerwork rockers, chaise-lounge, a few occasional chairs and a lovely dining area that features an 8'x3'x4” solid polished tree-section table. Its greatest asset though, is one of the most beautiful views in the High Country mountain region. Stand on the porch and look out into the distance or closer in enjoy the river and horse pasture views. Its South-facing perspective ensures a sunny day including impressive sunsets. Depending when you visit, a clear sky will usually be a moonlit one right in front of you. With such rich vegetation on the surrounding 23 acres, your stay will more than likely include a visit by passing deer and wild turkey. So far no sign of any bears!

The interior has also been thoroughly and thoughtfully designed with the comfort and pleasure of the vacationer in mind. Rhys' River Valley is a spacious home, especially important when more than one family is staying in the home. There are four sleeping areas, two with en suite bathrooms and each with a view, decorated in mountain decor with attractive quilts, goose down comforters, upgraded mattresses and interior pine walls – all quite cozy. In total there are four full bathrooms, all with imported tile, cherry cabinets, and the master bathroom has a Whirlpool tub. There are two queen beds, one king, and three single beds for sleeping. There is also a queen sleeper sofa and a roll-away bed for extra guests. The children's room has a camping theme, with the three beds (two arranged in bunk-bed form) finished in tree bark and the furnishings and trimmings having a distinct outdoors feel.

For entertainment the large playroom has a pool table with ping-pong top plus an air hockey table, along with a TV with streaming abilities, and video game system. It, too, has a great view from its two sets of double windows.

The upstairs living room is wonderful with its high cathedral ceiling and hand-hewn beams, stacked-stone wood-burning fireplace, wormy hardwood floors and best of all, its two pairs of French doors and floor to ceiling central windows provide a very light and airy feel as well as, of course, the spectacular view. This large and inviting room is the perfect gathering place for the whole family. Cuddle up by the roaring fire or sit at the large dining room table and chat with the chef in the gourmet kitchen featuring cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances, and unique Penta-Gold granite counter-tops.

Outside there is a large hot tub in a private setting which commands the view and night sky – just try to count all the stars on a clear night! This is the perfect place for solitude and peace. To the front, there is one-half acre of grassy flat land including a few shade trees (remember, it's South facing) that support a few swings and other playground features for the kids. This house has it all and mere words will not do it justice. Within a short drive or hike is the Watauga River for fishing, tubing or playing in the water. Two popular swimming holes are also located approximately ten minutes down the main road for summer fun!

* Please note: This home has convenient paved access all the way to its private drive which is accessed by a steep gravel road. Access to this home may not be suitable for vehicles with rear wheel drive, limited ground clearance, or motorcycles even during summer months. In times of snowfall, chains are needed. We are happy to help you find the home with the access you are most comfortable with, any time of year!
- Guests access this home through the lower level.
- Firewood may be added by reaching out to us more than a week in advance. You get two wrapped bundles and a firestarter $25/night.
- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, a couple garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers.
- Towels and linens will be provided for you.
- Dogs welcome, $25/night each, max of three dogs.

Stunning views. Peaceful.
We had so much space- perfect for two families with four adults and five total kids. Thankyou for being dog friendly! The hot tub and firepit were a big hit. We all came for Autumn in Oz. Perfect distance from everything.

Beautiful Views, Family Fun
Our families rented this place looking somewhere to fit two families with five children a dog, and please us all. The place worked out amazingly for us and our dog too. Place had a game room for the kids to unwind after a day out exploring and hiking places near by…. Boone, Banner Elk, Blue Ridge Parkway and Grandfather Mountain. The views were spectacular and the deck over looking the mountains and valley was a great way to spend mornings and evenings relaxing. This was all we were hoping it would be and more. Would definitely returns. A note though the driveway is definitely steep but they make sure you are aware before you arrive.

Family winter getaway!
We loved our experience staying here for a short getaway from the Florida heat. The house is amazing and large enough for multiple people with plenty of outdoor space. The house had everything we could ask for and we would love to come back and stay again in the future.

Wonderful, relaxing Getaway
Just what we needed. A cozy cabin to relax in for 5 days. The dogs loved the fenced-in yard - a bonus for us too! We had everything we needed. Lots of opportunity to explore in the area from Mast General Store to the Watauga River!

Family Ski Vacation
This property was nice and had a great view but I wish I had known that the entrance is not on the main level with the kitchen so I we had to carry our groceries and coolers upstairs to the main level and any time I needed to let my dog out I had to use the stairs which is difficult for me - the other thing I did not like was the incredibly steep driveway, straight up and then an extremely sharp turn straight up again then another extremely sharp turn and straight up again - that was the hardest part of driving the entire trip with the snow and ice---the pictures need updating because the orange sofa is not there---it has been replaced with 2 non-matching grey sofas and the open concept living room and kitchen is much tighter than the picture shows---would have been nice to have a TV in the living room that was larger than 32 inches---the bedrooms and bathrooms were very nice!!! All in all, we had a nice vacation!
