Palgongsan, South Korea. On its grounds is a 17 meter high statue of a Buddha of Medicine (Yaksayore-bil). Medical Buddhas are often depicted wearing a hat. It was completed in 1992 in hopes of reunification of the Korean Peninsula. Donghwasa Temple is one of the temples involved in the Temple Stay Program. She didn't even take the initiative to check her computer to see if a room was available. That left us with quite the unwelcoming experience. The room was a bit dated and tired looking, and small. The double bed also wasn't that comfortable. The bathroom was good though. The swimming pool was closed throughout our stay. They gave us a single coupon for breakfast which was very strange given there were two of us. The breakfast layout was very strange - there were about 7-8 round tables with 6 chairs each. Food was mainly Korean cuisine but the coffee was good. Unlike the check-in experience, the front desk staff during our check-out were very friendly and polite. They even stored our luggage for us in a secure location after we checked out, and even called us a taxi to the train station. They told us the ride was about 7 minutes and would cost around 7,000 Won, and it was very accurate.
