Esta ubicación única en la "cima del mundo" presenta vistas de 360 grados desde lo alto de 12 acres con un estanque. Las espectaculares montañas de San Juan que rodean Telluride, vistas desde el interior o desde la terraza envolvente de losa, siempre son inspiradoras. Rara vez esta propiedad de nivel de vista está disponible para alquileres de vacaciones, en todo Estados Unidos, y prácticamente nunca a precios tan razonables. Puede contar con una experiencia de vacaciones completamente inolvidable. Las tarifas de invierno son más, para compensar el costo y el tiempo de arar el camino de entrada de 1/2 milla de largo. The views alone make it worth the trip — every morning feels like waking up inside a painting. The peace and quiet of the surroundings, with only the sounds of nature and the occasional glimpse of wildlife, make it the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with the outdoors.The home is spotless and clearly well cared for. John designed and built it himself, which makes it extra special. The kitchen is impressively well stocked, with everything you might need to cook a full meal while soaking in those incredible views. Communication with the owner is smooth — you never hear from them unless you reach out, which gives you complete privacy while still knowing help is there if you need it.We loved exploring the nearby hikes, which offer even more stunning scenery. The roads getting there are fine, but we’d recommend a car with a little higher clearance for the driveway — it makes things easier.This was our second stay, and somehow it felt even more magical than the first. There’s just something about this place that stays with you — peaceful, beautiful, and unforgettable. Alpenglow checks all the boxes! The remote location is accessible by winding dirt roads as you head up in elevation... 9500 ft or so. The drive is fun and scenic. Roads to the property are maintained well. Your vehicle will get dirty. It's worth it! Our host, John, greeted us kindly as we pulled up. He promptly gave us a tour of his unique home that he started building 30 years ago. He showed us around to the different rooms and amenities. He has interesting photos and decor throughout and there are charming stories behind all of it. Note... He does stay on the property in an adjoining section of the house. Once we parted ways we never saw him for the 5 days we were there. He was quiet and respectful of our privacy.Be sure to come with an open mind. Embrace the unique designs and architecture. It's fun and you'll get lost in the little details of this house. The great room has an amazing 180 degree view of the San Juan Mountains. We came with the intent to stargaze and get close to nature and we got it! We got unreal Milky Way views at night (or early morning... 3am!). Excellent mountain views. A beautiful sunrise. We voiced a concern; he fixed it immediately. Nice guy The view is spectacular - unlike anywhere we have ever stayed - unbelievable! The kitchen, living & dining areas could NOT be furnished nor decorated any better. Absolutely beautiful & functional! CONS: The house is a shared house. John's independent area is a part of the rented home. There are two doors that do NOT lock -either party could open to enter into the other's space. (At least there is no lock from the guest's side.) We never saw him other when he came in to address a question. Super nice guy - never felt unsafe! Just felt like we were sharing a house w/ someone. Adding knobs that can be locked from both sides (or at least guests' side would help.) It might not bother some, but the bedrooms were too cluttered for my taste. One of the rooms had amazing windows which helped open the cluttered decor of the room while the other room was too dark. (I couldn't have stayed in there.) The bedroom areas just felt cluttered, dusty, and gloomy. (I didn't see dust...it just felt that way bc too much stuff everywhere.) House rule: Cant leave doors open to keep critters out - good reason. However, most of the windows are fixed & can't be opened, and can't open doors for fresh air & there are no screen doors, the house smells stale... you miss out on the fresh mountain air. (Adding screen doors throughout would really help.) Many probably love as is. ##### Mike S. Host was like your favorite uncle. Host stayed out of site while we were there and went out of his way to make us feel like family. My daughter invited him to a surprise birthday dinner and he fit in like family. Definitely rent a Subaru from flower Subaru next to the airport. Shop for food before you check in. The house is uniquely designed and quite interesting. It is very quiet and we even saw some wildlife despite it being winter. I love mountains, and I love fall leaves, so when I saw this listing, I jumped at the chance to book it for the first week in October. It didn't disappoint. Quite the opposite, actually. It was magnificent! And we could see it as the sun rose in the morning until it set at night. Then the stars and milky way came out to play. Add the birds, bugling elk, and a small herd of deer that wandered around the property, and it was absolutely picturesque! The property itself, about a 25 minute drive from Telluride, was quite cozy and unique, built by the owner over a matter of decades. I loved being able to cook in the kitchen, and the cast iron/enamel pans and a gas stove were a very nice perk (regular pans are also available). The beds had a memory foam topper and I believe were full size, which could be small for some couples, but that was ok with us. The futon and couch can be used as extra sleeping space if needed. There was a large ceiling fan in the main room as well as a couple small portable fans, which were nice to have for white noise and added air circulation if desired. Extra blankets and pillows were also available. In addition, our host was very friendly, promptly worked with a request we made, knew a lot about the animals and birds in the area, and to my husbands delight, was able to tell us about the many different mountain peaks in view. We would love to stay here again if we ever get the chance. ##### Misty R. We felt like we were staying in a high mountain hut. We never turned on the TV, because we were mesmerized by the landscape in front of us. It was such a treat to watch the wildlife, too. John is a wonderful soul and super gracious host. Please note that bedroom 1 and bathroom 1 on the listing is an extra charge on the core price - noted in the description. Core price includes bedroom 2 and bathroom 2\. John's apartment is attached to the main living area by an internal door. He is super quiet. Around 25 years ago, we drove the Alpine Loop for the first time and I’ve always dreamed of staying somewhere with those views…this was that place! The views are absolutely breathtaking!!! It was the perfect spot to celebrate our anniversary. We did several scenic drives: Last Dollar Rd, Ouray to Silverton, Woods Lake, and the Unaweep Tabegauche Scenic Byweep to name a few. The house is lovely and cozy, and the view is jaw dropping. The kitchen is well appointed. I made a blackberry cobbler while there. We also drove into Telluride and had a great time skiing! The home has an epic view surrounded by beautiful mountains. In our case we some amazing wildlife, a beautiful snowscape and stunning sunsets. We saw a heard of over a hundred majestic elk pass through the property. The home has heated floors, a wonderful book and movie collection. Everything in the home is comfortable and it is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. The Apenglow Ranch also has some of the best water you can imagine and a lovely wood stove. John helped us get the lay of the land and we had an amazing time. Telluride is just a thirty minute scenic drive away. We had the best of Telluride and the best of nature & adventure. I love this place. And I think John made a small paradise that can be shared through VRBO. It's a gift to yourself to stay there that you will never forget. ##### George A. The views are beyond amazing! The location is close (25 minutes) to Telluride and all of the activities, but secluded if you want to just stay at the property. We are big photographers and the images captured did not disappoint. We also were able to snowshoe on property and enjoy the wonderful Colorado outdoors. Kitchen is fabulous for cooking! John (the owner) is on site and available if you need anything. He greeted us upon arrival and was very attentive to snow removal, but then did not see him until we were leaving. It's the most beautiful room I've ever been in. John, the host, was friendly, informative, and helpful. The house is well-appointed and the kitchen has everything you need to cook. Load up on groceries before you come. The nearest markets are half an hour away in quaint Telluride. Only minor negatives are no a/c (got a little stuffy during the day), small queen-ish-sized beds, and the very rough mountain road to get there. The home fit the description and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The views from the family room were spectacular, the kitchen well appointed, the beds comfortable. We rented a small sedan and managed to drive it up the gravel roads to this house on a hill. This would only be an option in the summer; snowy seasons would probably require a vehicle with four wheel drive. The drive to Telluride was less than 30 minutes and a beautiful ride. We spent our days exploring many of the trails and towns within a two-hour drive of the home. Our host stayed on the property in a separate entrance and was out of sight unless we needed him. Alpenglow was the perfect place for us to relax and recharge. The property and its majestic views exceeded our expectations (Thank goodness we didn't stay crowded confines of Mountain Village). We only saw John at the property during our check-in & check-out. However, we caught up with him several times at the festival, and we entirely enjoyed his company & assistance navigating the festival. We could not have asked for a better host. Thank you, John for sharing your festival experience, local info, all of your fascinating stories, and especially your amazing home.
