On a beautiful day like this one, it only makes sense to stroll through Waterfront Park and relax next to the Pineapple Fountain. Maybe grab an Italian ice on the way, since there is no shortage of vendors selling it around downtown Charleston.
A short but steep walk takes you from the parking lot up to a beautiful lookout called Clingmans Dome. The highest point along the Appalachian trail has a beautiful view.

The Cape Lookout Lighthouse, off the coast of North Carolina, and only accessible by boat. I chose to kayak there on a beautiful day, departing from Harker's Island for the 3-4 mile journey.
Welcome to Burkes Beach... Hilton Head Island is known for its bike riding so this beach is easily accessible from the many bike baths along the way. The waves here are decent on a windy day the could get up to 8 foot waves at high tide. There's a sandbar that goes out at least 1/4 mile from the shore its crazy to be standing that far out. Do not get off the sand bar or you will attract the lifeguard. There is also a lagoon, it's perfect to get out of the waves and a great inlet for fishing. As for the picture this is Juan Casanova from Ecuador. He currently lives in North Carolina with his family playing soccer on the weekends. On this particular day he was showing us his bicyclekick it was quite a show. I would highly recommend a vacation to Hilton Head.

There is a trail that leads to the top of looking glass rock (the big rock-faced mountain as seen from the parkway). It's a moderate to difficult trail that's approximately 3 miles one way, 6 total. The end of the trail gives you 180 views. #localgem
