The hotel exterior, lobby and facilities are impressive. The rooms are very much a let down. The wouldn’t be motivated to write such a review if it wasn’t for the price. Stained carpets with shabby, dinted and aged furniture. Creaky pipes for the shower. The bathroom was lovely however and the bed itself very comfortable.

Beautifully converted late 1800s building. The rooms were spacious with very high ceilings. Probably 18 feet high. The Refuge restaurant had excellent food and lots of different choices. The Sunday Roast was delicious. Breakfast was a large buffet including all of the typical “full English” items along with many other options. Highly recommend

Staff were great especially Lucy in the restaurant. Hotel is a gem. Breakfast was delicious and gym is nice and big with lots of equipment. Only negative was the service charge on the bill. I hope this isn't going to bleed into the hotel sector so owners can pay their staff less. I paid this time but definitely will not pay again.

"Overall it was good, however even though the hotel is dog friendly, they seemed unprepared for how to deal with a dog, even though it cost us £30 to have him with us for the night. We were offered bowls for the dog which were provided, but we were offered a bed for the dog which did not arrive. Also ..."
