Room out the back overlooking the garden. Dated, cold and a bit shabby etc in the entrance. Rooms are good overall, bit shabby like the iron mark on carpet, not deep cleaned, bit dusty etc. teas/coffee/biscuits nice. Our princess themed room was spacious and clean. We had no breakfast so cannot comment on this. Staff were very helpful explaining how the boiler and heating worked.

We visited Matlock to see the original family farm from and ancestral home of my immigrant ancestors. We hired a taxi with a driver who knew the area well to take us around the countryside. Would highly recommend Fox taxi service.
Matlock Bath is a summer resort town, with a lot of activities geared towards children. Its more sedate in the fall/winter. Bakewell which is nearby is much more bustling year round.
