Forest Cabin Moments from Stone Mountain

Relax in solitude with the whole family at this rustic log cabin in the woods located just minutes away from Stone Mountain State Park. Nestled in the Yadkin Valley Wine Country, the pet and child-friendly cabin boasts beautiful forest views, high-speed internet, a firepit, a covered deck, and a cozy wood-burning fireplace. Take a few days away and escape to Appalachia in this comfortable and recently updated forest cabin!

Freedom Grove Lodging is situated on approximately 23 acres less than five minutes from the entrance to Stone Mountain State Park. In less than ten minutes, you can easily find yourself at one of a handful of beautiful wineries/vineyards, standing in trout-stocked waters, or hiking trails to breathtaking views. Our property, named out of a deep appreciation for our country and the beautiful land we enjoy, is heavily wooded and a variety of animals can often be seen roaming around. Take advantage of the firepit next to the cabin while grilling dinner and enjoying something white or red from one of our many local wineries.  If the weather is less than favorable, cozy up to the sound of a crackling fireplace (firewood provided by hosts!) while enjoying streaming services on a 55 inch Roku TV with soundbar entertainment.

Our cabin, named The Daniel Boone - after the legendary frontiersman and Virginia representative who once lived near the Yadkin River - has a queen bed in the downstairs bedroom and a full bed in the upstairs loft. The sofa in the living room also opens up into a bed, and an inflatable mattress and pump is available for an additional guest if needed.

For guests with small children, a Grace Pack-&-Play and a small high chair are available upon request. Please let us know if either of these items are needed prior to your stay.

Furry family members are most welcome - there are no additional fees - and some pet supplies are provided. Pets must be leashed when outside and crated when unattended inside. This is for their safety, the wildlife, other guest's pet's safety, and so that future guests of the cabin can continue to enjoy the space.

Guests have full access to the Daniel Boone Cabin and surrounding areas. There is another cabin rental on the property as well as a glamping site, so we ask that you be respectful of other guests' experience and space.

Please see the attached images, one of which shows the distance between rentals. The Daniel Boone Cabin is the green X.

4x4 is recommended, but not required, to get in and out of our property. Guests do just fine with a sedan, but there areas with new gravel that have seen a couple of cars break traction.

We do not live on the property but we are nearby and can typically respond quickly. Please contact us with any questions!
***Fall 2023 Update - As we enter into cooler months, stink bugs began searching for warm environments to live in. We do our best to mitigate against them including hiring pest control and collecting them when they make it inside. However, there is no full-proof insecticide that is successful at preventing them, and they have no natural predators; and unfortunately, they thrive in forest environments like the one where we are located. Please review these circumstances prior to booking your stay. ***

Great Get-Away
Property photos accurate. Only few short minutes to Stone Mountain entry. VERY private on this wooded acreage. A great place or R&R or business in the area. Road/driveway into property no problem to access with my vehicle (front wheel drive). Cabin well stocked, clean, beds comfy, and linens fresh. We plan to stay here again for our future trips to the area.

Perfect Getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was the perfect size, remote but not far away from stores etc. The communication with the owners was ideal and we definitely want to come back. Thanks again for hosting us and our 4 legged kids ❤️

Anniversary Stay
My wife and I and our 2 dogs stayed here for our 1st wedding anniversary. The cabin is tucked back up in the woods giving plenty of privacy. 4wd definitely helps btw. The entrance to the cabin is very inviting. My wife said the kitchen was the perfect size, although utensils were somewhat lacking, some knives could be sharpened, and maybe a few more pieces of bakeware/cookware. The fireplace was 100% perfect. As for the den, everything was fantastic, aside from the TV. To me, it was too small being as far away from the couch as it was. Also, a floor lamp on the fireplace side of the couch would greatly improve the atmosphere. The fireplace doesn't quite put out enough light to help in that area. On the subject of lights, some of them were entirely too bright, namely the two over the fireplace. Beds were not very comfortable, but it's hard to find a bed as comfortable as your own. Bathroom was nice and clean and fully stocked. I had to give it a 4 and not a 5 for one reason. And it's a reason that is hard to help due to the region and time of year, but the stink bugs were everywhere. Most of them were dead, though, so pest control is working to an extent. All things considered, it was a great stay. Invest some money in lighting/bigger TV and a little more in pest control and it would absolutely 100% perfect.

Quiet Getaway
Excellent owners were personable and accommodating. Cabin is beautiful and secluded yet apportioned wonderfully! Remember some places worth staying have special disposal rules, easy to follow but important. RIGHT around the corner, country store with neat local crafts and Hand Dipped Ice Cream! (and fudge)
