This property is phenomenal! Easy walk to the plaza! Emily at the front desk was the best service person I’ve ever encountered. Would give a 10 star if I could!

The service and the caliber of the guestrooms was remarkable. And I don’t say that lightly. Between the turndown service and the mid morning check-in, our room was always clean —& up to snuff. I also appreciated the warm response of all the hotel stuff from when I needed to borrow two umbrellas to getting my car out of valet parking. It was such a wonderful experience and the location is phenomenal. Exactly what my partner and I were looking for.

Enjoyed the 2-night stay. The pool reminded me of family vacations in the 50's. Especiallly loved the "Vacancy" sign. Grounds were immaculate and in full bloom. Furnishings were seriously dated with much charm, but all was functional! There was a gymn, but I did not make it there. I did enjoy the breakfast and the lovely patio.

8.8/10 Excellent! (1,376 reviews)
The pool is very nice but a bit smaller than expected (camera angles do wonders). Because the hotel is large, the only time I could find to swim without 3+ others in the pool with me was when the pool opens (7am). The gym was packed, again because it was small and the hotel is large, but it was well-equipped for a small gym. A bonus is having TWO hot tubs - well done! Pool and hot tubs were very clean.
Overall, I would describe the Eldorado’s atmosphere as “austere.” Not a lot of personality for such a high-end hotel; definitely not “cozy.” But it is clean and spacious, with multiple options for a drink and a spa. Staff were unfailingly gracious and friendly. Location is fantastic: in addition to being right off the plaza, I could walk to many restaurants, cafes, the train station, bike rental, etc.
The room was large and the bed comfortable. I did have a small deck, but there were metal plates screwed to the top of the railing; they appear to have held flower boxes in the past. I understand why the flower boxes were removed (too much maintenance), but seeing the empty metal plates just emphasized how lovely the deck probably used to be.
Overall, this is a fine place and for many, especially couples and families, it’s likely ideal (if you can afford it). But next time I’ll look for another well-located but smaller hotel with a pool. Or if I were in Santa Fe for just a couple of nights, I’d choose a smaller hotel with more personality and no pool over Eldorado.
