It is around 2 hours (or more) drive from washington DC. This is a picture of the "Dream Lake", a spring of water which has a mirror-like appearance. Stalactites are reflected in the water making them appear to be stalagmites. This gives an illusion that the lake is deeper. The lake is connected to a spring that continues deeper into the caverns. All in all, it was my first time exploring caverns. It was a fun filled day, learning the stories of the cavern. Tips: 1) It is very crowded on weekends and holidays. If you want to enjoy peaceful, slow paced, less crowded tour of the caverns, go on weekdays. 2) If you visit the caverns, look for these things- Saracen's tent - scarves and shawls of translucent calcite, falling in graceful folds, fringed with a thousand patterns, and so thin that a candle light can reveal the structure within! The fried eggs formation - yes, it looks like fried eggs ;) The Great Stalacpipe Organ - An actual organ which plays music- sounds of Stalactites! Finally we get into a room minutes before having to leave for a funeral and the safe was broken and the hot tub/jacuzzi was filthy. Then we get back to the motel for rest later that night and the AC unit sounded like two transformers were trying to recreate their favorite fight scene. They did provide us a 15% refund; which in my opinion doesn't make up for have a hot tub that we couldn’t use without fear of infection and having to carry everything with us because we didn’t have a safe to use. There were several bugs in our room. Some dead bugs in cobwebs around various parts of the room. Several small beetles around our room as well as waking up to a wasp in our bed and several stink bugs. There was also a musty smell overall. The beds were fairly comfortable and the overall layout of everything was excellent. We were only there to sleep so we didn't get to explore the property but from what we saw, it was pretty nice. The ice and vending machines were directly across from our room and they have a nice club/restaurant on the ground floor that leads right out to the boardwalk. The only downside is the parking is around the block but if you are planning on being at the beach all day, it probably won't be of any concern. I would stay here again if I had the opportunity." We booked for a queen and the bed was definitely a full size bed. Other than that everything was amazing and were currently planning our next visit, which hopefully will be in March." Great breakfast buffet with both hot and cold items. Lots of bars, restaurants within walking distance. Aquarium was only 10 min away. Great spot for a beach vacation.
