This romantic riverside retreat is located in Whitby’s old shipyard, right in the heart of the town, giving you easy access to the wonderful collection of independent shops and eateries, as well as the sandy beaches and bustling harbour. There are some fascinating attractions in the town, and history enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to Whitby Museum or the Captain Cook Memorial Museum. From Whitby, enjoy day trips to Staithes (10 miles) and Scarborough (20 miles).

A lift or flight of stairs leads to the charming first-floor apartment. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner has a contemporary feel, with cute accessories and home comforts to make your stay as relaxed as possible. Whip up dinners for two in the fitted kitchen, to share together at the dining table. In the evenings, snuggle up on the plump sofa to watch a movie on the SkyTV. When it’s time for bed, retire to the elegant king-size bedroom. A stylish bathroom completes the accommodation. There is no outside space with the property, but with sandy beaches and coastal walks nearby, you’ll have plenty of choice when it comes to pre-breakfast strolls.

A 0.5-mile jaunt brings you to Whitby’s old town, with its cobbled streets and historic buildings. Enjoy a romantic wander around the boutiques and galleries, before finding a little, tucked-away spot to sample some delicious seafood in one of the restaurants. From the old town, the iconic 199 steps lead to the headland and the atmospheric ruins of Whitby Abbey – a must for any budding photographer. Step back in time with a ride on one of the steam trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, taking you deep into the beautiful national park.
