Hotel Montreal Metropolitan, an Ascend Collection Hotel

"The Good - The price very was fair for what I perceive as a bit of a high end hotel, given how luxurious the lobby and second floor gathering area was. Everything was immaculately clean, and it's rare a hotel has pillows that are actually firm. The Bad - There's not a lot of places to eat nearby and the hotel is very close to a school zone behind it. There was a Cuban restaurant and what seemed to be a diner attached to a liquidation style store which struck me as odd. That said, I think they serve their own breakfast minor complain. Also not really a reflection on the hotel but Montreal's city blocks seem to be substantially larger then other cities, so you are probably further then you expect from your destination. Mine was Stade Saptuo. The Ugly - So the parking for this hotel is surface lot under an expressway bridge across a fairly busy one way street. It's not a great spot, in terms of being well lit, clean (it's expectedly grungy) and crossing to the hotel can be a bit of an ordeal with traffic. That said, despite this is doesn't feel unsafe or that your car is going to get jacked. Honestly, this is a good place to stay, especially for the cost. Apart from factors that aren't really in the Hotel's control (given the parking situation and its location) the worst thing I can say is they use shampoo dispensers instead of giving you a bottle. Thumbs up."

"Close to the Metro and tourist spots. Easy to get an uber to. Stayed in a lower floor so street noise was there. They said there was a white noise machine and ear plugs which I never found (didn’t ask or need them either). If you want quiet or low street noise may not be the place for you as it is by the university. I personally found it to be background noise and easy to ignore. Staff was friendly. Would stay there again."

"My friend and I stayed at this hotel for one night on Thanksgiving long weekend. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown and it is walking distance to many stores, restaurants and entertainment. I highly recommend using the valet service because we just parked the car for one night and everything was taken care of. We also got a beautiful view of the city, and if you bring your own food it was so convenient to know that we were able to wash our plates in the sink, store our perishables in the fridge, and also heat up the food in the microwave. Lastly, the hotel staff were friendly and provided great customer service. Overall it was a great stay for us from Sunday to Monday."

"Excellent location. Cute place. Loved all the nearby restaurants. We enjoyed Spanish Tapas the first night right across the street, then Sammi’s Dumplings the last night and a Persian Late at Montiran Cafe one evening. The metro stop is just a block away, so it was easy to come and go during the day. Our room was facing Saint-Denis, so there was always light out, even with the roller blind down. If you are a light sleeper, there was a lot of noise outside, maybe because of some nearby construction too, but I had a little fan that drowned it out pretty good. Overall, it’s was a great place. Will definitely stay there again."

"We were visiting to attend the Canadian Open Tennis and do some sightseeing. The apartment is very close to the tennis centre and there are two Metro stops within 10 minutes' walk so it was very easy to get around. The Jean Talon market is also close and worth a visit."
