Lovely place, but the mattress in room 34 badly needs replacing-very uncomfortable-the one closest to the door. Love the gardens and the little beach and Sarah the innkeeper. Also, plastic chairs on balcony need replacing with sturdier ones.

I stay here everyday for a music festival. The hotel is cool, funky and not cookie cutter which I love in a hotel. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly and helpful and the free breakfast is great. Not a continental breakfast but a real breakfast menu.

The space provided exactly what we needed, affordable bed and breakfast. This very old inn had charm. The history and historical content was of interest to us. We very much enjoyed the sound of the river flowing out our balcony! The attention to gardens being resurrected was appreciated. Sarah, the inn keeper and owner, made special accomidations to meet our travel schedule! The area is beautiful and so much to explore. We would definitely stay at the Wayside again.

The property was very uniquely positioned next to a nice river and we enjoyed the views! We had to be careful not to break the old plastic chairs on the balcony. The room was clean but still in an old fashioned state and could use some upgrading. The breakfast was very good, (you chose they made fresh) and we sat looking out at the river and a lovely flowering garden. Very New England

Our second great stay here! After coming for a winter ski weekend we couldn’t wait to come back and enjoy the river in warmer weather … and it didn’t disappoint. It was so peaceful listening to the river to fall asleep at night!

This is a family-run property and you can feel that in everything! The staff is welcoming, the public areas are beautifully appointed with period furniture and artifacts from the inn’s history, and the storybook setting right on the banks of the river can’t be beat! The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The one thing I wish there were a bit more attention to is the balcony furniture - it would have been nice to have a more comfortable chair and little table for morning coffee.

I absolutely loved this place and the staff. Everything exceeded our expectations! There was a restaurant on site that I was not expecting and made this over the top wonderful for our stay.
