Once you've visited all of the fabulous attractions in La Mariscal, there's plenty more to explore in the surrounding region. Collect the keys to a rental car, toss your bags in the trunk and hit the open road. We've come up with some road trips we think you'll love:

• Make your way to Ambato for a fantastic sightseeing experience. Roughly 75 miles from La Mariscal, it's home to tons of great sights such as Mall of the Andes.
• Why not see the wonders of Esmeraldas too? Unmissable attractions in this happening city include Malecón Las Palmas. Esmeraldas is around 110 miles from La Mariscal.
• General Villamil Beach is 210 miles from La Mariscal and is one of the region's most spectacular nature spots. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the fresh air here.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Ecuador, then it's likely you'll need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be able to rent a car. You should also note that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll be asked to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of documentation as well.
