Lovely owners who have run this place for over 40 years. It is set back in time, early 80s and an education and experience of that. However does have Wifi and central to the Town. I was upgraded to a larger room with en suite without asking which was a nice touch. Pleasantly surprised with the cost that it included breakfast, I had porridge, fruit juice, cooked breakfast and toast. All floors have stairs which would not be suitable for the less mobile.

We arrived and was shown we're too park, behind the premises, they also had storage for my friends motorbike. We checked in and was shown to are room ,which was on the top floor . Room was clean very old fashioned but was full off character. Had Kettle and tea/coffee/biscuits/hot chocolate etc, Beds were comfortable and clean bedding. Several options for Breakfast ,full English,Cereals,Toast etc. Only met the Lady owner she was lovely, chatty and welcoming. Had peaceful night sleep ,the location was excellent .
Lovely staff and a very comfortable stay. The property is located in a calm and quiet town, making it an ideal place to relax, especially if you’re travelling with your own vehicle. The building is very old and traditional, full of character, and has been well maintained. Overall, it was a pleasant and comfortable experience.
The property has its own restaurant where breakfast is served. It is a lovely, traditional restaurant run by an elderly lady who was very welcoming. The breakfast was fresh, delicious, and a great start to the day.

It beats me how this is even open for business. It's dreadfully old, rundown and not maintained or clean. Avoid. How it advertises with 2* I just don't know.
It was so bad, we couldn't bear to stay for breakfast. The place reaked of greasy cooking smells. The building needed badly referbishing.
The ensuite bathroom was a tiny cuby hole on the landing. The only window in our room was a sky light that had no blackout. Snoring could be heard through a thin wall adjoining the pub next door.
Hotels.com should never had included it on their site.
We felt they should have paid us to stay there.
Never again.

I booked this for a short one night stay on a budget. The property is not up to modern standards but as long as you are not fussy is ok. The owners are a lovely, helpful couple. Unfortunately it is next to a pub and on a Friday night there was loud, live music and there were still people out on the main street being noisy. Luckily I had some ear plugs with me.
The smell hits you when you arrive, chip fat possibly, everything is so old, carpets, furniture, wouldnt say clean either but exception for sheets and towels provided. Just needs selling and massive refurb.
We tavelled to the Copper Kettle by bicycle
Lovely landlady. Very helpful and let us put our bikes in the shed.
She really made us feel welcome.
The B&B is in a very old property and there are lots of quirky, odd angles and walls but even so the property looked tired and could do with redecorating. The shower in our room had a kinked hose and the shower head wouldn't stay in its holder so we had to use it hand held. The beds were odd sizes too and my mattress was lumpy.
The hotel was well situated on the main street and only 300m from the Brewery tap - excellent beer and pizzas.
The cooked breakfast was excellent and fueled us up ready to take on the Cumbrian hill on our bikes.

A very interesting period property built around 1610 with winding stairs and exposed beams. The lady of the house was very amenable and has been running the place for around 50years.

This property receives variable reviews across various platforms, great reviews and poor reviews alike seem a little unrealistic and the bad ones often ill founded. It is a old and tired property that reuqires a lot of work, the room was small but comfortable. There was a pervading smell of damp (not cooking oil as noted on other platforms) just like home!! wall paper and bathroom had clearly suffered in past. Good breakfast, clean room, friendly accommodating host. When you make a booking at a property which is 25-50% cheaper than any other in the immediate area and includes breakfast what are you expecting? We went in on a budget with low expectations but it was not as bad a we had thought it might be and we had a separate private bathroom having anticipated sharing. Is it the Ritz? No. Would we stay again, undoubtedly, yes.

Had a light large room with en suite, if you want fancy then this is not for you, the couple running it are very easy to talk to and very pleasant and helpful, breakfast was good, right in the centre of town.
The service is absolutely disgusting! I booked and paid for a room at this hotel. I drove 4 hours to get here so I could hike in Yorkshire dales early in the morning. Once I got there I was told that they never received my booking. I had the recipt and confirmation email but they refused to acknowledge it. The woman I spoke to on the phone who worked there was rude to me. She asked my name and then told me that a person with my name had already checked in. This was a lie because she had clearly misheard what I had said and told me 'Janice' had checked in. My name is Joanna. Then she said "oh, well they have the same surname as you". She told me to go across the road and try them because they do not have a room for me now. I had to go through Expedia to get my refund (in 7-10 days) then try and find somewhere to stay last minute. I was lucky to find somewhere as I almost had to sleep in my car. I was shocked and appalled at how cold and sharp this woman was to me. She even got annoyed when I had called back and told me "I have already spoken to you, what do you want?".
I suffer from severe anxiety and this has been detrimental to my mental health.
I would highly recommend anyone to stay away from this hotel if you do not want to be disappointed and ripped off.

Very pleasant people running the hotel
It was what I needed for a stop over
Welcoming hostess, good bed and quiet sleep, tasty breakfast, clean bedding and towels. But...
I was shocked by the condition of the place. Vey old fashioned and too shabby and worn. Carpets especially bad. Shower room stank awful and shower painted over with white paint. Sink in bedroom painted too. Only a skylight. Not seen anything this bad before, but bearable for me. Fortunately on my own as wife would not have entered this place.

Cheap and cheerful, in need of a lot of tlc. Room 5 was fine although the bathroom floor was very uneven. Breakfast was good, other meals were okay, you get what you pay for! Had to wash everything when we got home due to the smell of fried food.
Hmm. Dated. Damp. Mouldy. Slightly rude in parts. But breakfast was great - set me up for the day.

The whole place stank of old cooking oil. Sticky dirty bannisters. The bed linen and crockery were clean. I had booked for a few nights but left after one as could not sleep because of the disgusting smell.
Unfortunately we didn't feel this property is remotely up to current safety standards or clean enough for people to be allowed to stay. There is also not sufficient dedicated parking for guests (2 spaces total) & we had to sort this out ourselves. The couple who run the place were pleasant and apologised for the parking etc. but this sadly didn't make up for the major concerns we had over the property.
