this historical hotel situated right next to this quiet river at lower slaughter, the very peaceful and scenic area where our whole family enjoyed our stay so much. Although the hotel itself inside has long history, they maintain it very well, it even makes the whole place different to the other brand new places. the highlights is they provided freshly made breakfast everyday for us, varies options and very delicious. thank you for the stay and we will recommend this to everyone.

This is a good, clean, modern Cotswold hotel. It’s not until entering the car park that you realise how big it is. The cottage- style rooms are a nice touch and the facilities are clean and modern. Dinner was ok. Staff weren’t especially helpful on Sunday morning when, after missing breakfast and buying coffee in the bar, they couldn’t find even a morsel to eat. Otherwise all very competent

The property and the surrounds were stunning. The bar staff seemed to be having a tough time keeping up but overall a great stay and wonderful staff ! Lots of day trips were very easy from the Inn as well as a beautiful walk into Bourton on the Water ! Highly recommended

The Inn is set in a very pretty location. The textiles in the room are in much need of updating; however, they are very comfortable rooms. The bathroom was large and adequately stocked. We had a large room, but there were people above us that made so much noise it made sleep very difficult. The staff were very nice and helpful. Both this property and the Manor house across the street have been acquired recently by a new company. I do hope this company will do everything it can to improve the food in the restaurant at the Inn. It Desperately needs a real bar. Thank goodness we were able to go across the street to The Manor to have our meals and cocktails there. As there is nothing to do in Lower Slaughter, you have to drive everywhere if you want any type of nighttime activity. It is ideal for a one night stay; however, we were there for three nights.

Lovely setting and a great location, but I have to say that for a hotel carrying a five-star price tag, it felt somewhat dated and didn’t quite live up to expectations. We ate in the restaurant during our stay. Although the kitchen closed at 9pm and we weren’t seated until around 8.45pm, we would still have expected the same standard of service regardless of the time. Unfortunately, we were made to feel rather rushed and the food seemed to reflect that. The chips were undercooked and the whole experience had a definite sense of trying to get the order prepared and served as quickly as possible. We also paid a £50 deposit on account which, five days later, still hasn’t been returned. Overall, it’s a pleasant place in a lovely setting, but for us it simply didn’t feel like a five-star experience. Based on our stay, I’m not sure we would return.

If you’re traveling to the Cotswolds in the summer time it may be difficult to stay and enjoy the rooms at the Slaughters Country Inn when the sun is high because there is no AC or central air. Fans will suffice to circulate the air and you can ask for more with reception. The property was lovely, the staff was great and the ambiance was wonderful.
