This review is for the Griffin hotel, not the main hotel (which was beautiful). When we booked our trip, we knew that we wouldn’t be in the main building since we were traveling with a dog. However, if we would have known what we were getting into, we would not have stayed at the Griffin hotel. It felt like the reject hotel. After checking into the main building, we drove to ours. We passed a couple of other small hotels on the property that looked nice and when we got to ours it looked outdated, but we were still hopeful. Upon arriving we found out there were no elevators, so we had to leave some heavy stuff behind in the car and make a lot of trips back and forth. Our room was in the basement and the hallway to get to our room seemed like an old dorm room hall, with its painted cement walls, a variety of old smells, and an office area with cubicles. Our room, unfortunately, smelled like stale cigarettes, and someone did come to try to remedy the smell, but it only was better for a few hours. The internet didn’t consistently work, which wouldn’t be a huge issue except my husband was trying to work while on vacation. It was very frustrating. Half of the time he couldn’t get any internet or phone calls. There was no complementary water or ice there, and our fridge kept resetting so we had to throw away food.
It’s just unfortunate because we were looking forward to staying here and since we have to pay an extra fee for dogs, I would rather have spent my money elsewhere.
