“Room was clean.
Bathroom shower leaking and very small.
Tea, coffee and microwave available. Would of liked a long mirror in the bedroom to dry hair ect as had to run extension lead to bathroom, not ideal.
Staff are amazing,
Parking very tight so to get a space pull up after the 11am check out.
Breakfast choices wonderful, lots of choices and all fresh.”
“The best part was the breakfast, very good and very polite individual.
The room was cold, no hot water to shower, no one around to solve the issue. All in house amenities not in use. No bar. No service, no contact.
It's 2 miles from town, so taxi us essential.
It's the sort of place that picture perfect... But you'll only go once.

“Our fourth stay at the Metropole in recent years.A privilege to stay in such a unique historic building,with yes a little patina around the edges.If you dont embrace the nostalgia then budget chain's are available.The staff here are so good,as is the breakfast and the pool and spa facility.A great location for roadtrips around mid Wales,and a huge car park.”

“We had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay in this elegant and historic building. The grounds are well maintained and the highlight is the walled garden with a large variety of fruit trees and a maze that puzzled us for a while! Our dinner was prepared with care and attention and the food was very tasty. A 5* stay in a 5* hotel..”
“Lovely bright clean room with very nice bathroom. Everything was immaculate. Breakfast was really good and we also had an evening meal which was very good as well. Hosts/staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anybody looking to stay in this area of Wales.”
“A very well presented and convenient hotel for Hay on Wye and the surrounding areas. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room itself was comfortable and finished to a high standard. Would be perfect for couples or solo travellers wanting to explore the local area. Will definitely be back.”
“A quaint old fashioned inn. Amenities a bit dated but all functioning. Bath with jets was a plus. Loved the provision of bottled water and little biscuits. Breakfast was a lovely continental affair. Only downside was the winding staircases that made taking luggage up and down difficult.”
