Book accommodations at the all-inclusive St. James’s Club & Villas on the northeastern side of Mamora Bay. The name may sound familiar if you’re a viewer of Live Kelly and Ryan, as the resort is often a contest prize for viewers. Here you’ll find two beaches, five restaurants, numerous swimming pools, kayaking, catamaran sailing and other watersports options, tennis and pickleball courts, entertainment and fitness and spa facilities. Experience total relaxation in this lovely tropical location.
Visit the dive shop near the resort jetty to arrange an exciting excursion with Mamora Bay Divers. In the water you’re likely to see colorful coral, fish, eels, rays, urchins and sea turtles. You’ll also have a different perspective of the island as you gaze back at limestone cliffs eroded into tall pillars. You can arrange PADI open water dive certification and other classes with experienced instructors. If you’re already certified, choose from underwater photography dives, deep dives, night dives and multi-day excursions.
Even if you aren’t staying at the resort, the beaches here allow public access, as do all of the more than 360 beaches on the island of Antigua. The beach in front of the villas, facing east toward the bay, has calm waters and a gentle sandy slope. The second beach, facing the more open St. James Bay, includes a coral reef with excellent snorkeling. Park outside the gated community for beach access.
If you’re staying at the resort, arrange outings to Falmouth Harbour for shopping, dining and history. Nelson’s Dockyard National Park is filled with original and restored structures including Fort Berkeley, the Clarence House, Admiral House Museum and Fort George.
Drive to Mamora Bay in about 15 minutes from Falmouth or 40 minutes from V.C. Bird International Airport in Osbourn. If you’re sailing in the Caribbean Sea, get advance customs clearance, watch for reefs at the bay entrance and enjoy a quiet, protected anchorage away from cruise boats and commercial ships.
