The room was nice and clean. Super nice area to be in Oxford super convenient! But there was this intense and strange smell as soon as one enters the reception. The downstairs smelled bad. But the room did not have any of the smell and was fine.

Central location and room had everything needed... en-suite, good shower and tea/coffee making facilities.
However, tea/coffee not topped up and no-one on the premises to ask.
We had no sleep as the theatre was next door and the stage crew were dismantling and loading lorries from 11pm until 6.30am!!
No privacy in the room if cirtains were opened and neighbours were able to look directly into the shower... we hung a towel over the glass for privacy!
Room was clean and comfortable. Typical 3-star accommodation, and Abdul, the manager, was a helpful and courteous host. Best part was that Ali Inn is in the heart of Oxford, close to bars, restaurants and all attractions. Highly recommended for value-for-money and convenience.

It's a great location right in the centre of Oxford. But this also means it's very noisy. Had to have the window open after a hot day, but there was noise from the nearby pubs until 2am, and noise from the loud AC unit in the building across the road.
Room was comfortable and both room and en-suite were clean, and the stay was very good value for money. However, my room faced the street and even with the window closed I was disrupted several times during the night from noises outside (e.g. waste collection) so if anyone is a light sleeper I would suggest requesting a room not facing the street! Obviously the hotel itself is limited in their ability to rectify this.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Everything in the room was clean, and based on other reviews as I expected. The front is a little hard to find in the dark though. The location is excellent for the centre of town and lots of food and transport options right outside.
I didn't actually see anyone who worked there the whole time, so this is not a place to stay if you need assistance. The room was noisy from outside, but earplugs sorted this out.
Very disappointing. Will never go back or recommend to anyone. Even though the location is good.

Good Location
The receptionist was nice and the location is very good but the wifi did not work. The main issue was that my room and the bathroom were not very clean. The bathroom also had a strong odour so I needed to keep the bathroom door closed as it made me feel sick.

when people say no frills they mean no frills. 2 towels, no small ones, shampoo no conditioner. i do have to say that the toilet paper wasn’t folded or anything it looks just used from the last guest and the kettle still had water in it and looked gross.
it’s great location but it’s rare to have a quiet moment there’s always something going on (we didn’t mind though but it’s something to consider if you’re a light sleeper). we stayed for two nights and were there for oxford not a luxurious hotel room so it was good enough! overall happy with our stay. great place to stay if you’d rather spend more money on food/things to do than a room you’re just sleeping in.

Chosen purely on price and location namely cheap and central. City centre so expect it to be noisy at night. Currently building work going on opposite so noisy early morning. Keys collected from polite person at desk on arrival. No one there in morning but not an issue. Narrow staircase if u have heavy luggage. Room clean. Kettle, Hair dryer, iron. Bedding clean. Bathroom clean. Mould around shower but not a game changer. Fire extinguishers in hallways. No fire exit found other than main staircase. Cheap, City centre location, city centre noise, Room clean. Fulfilled our brief cheap and central.
The room had not been cleaned. It’s an old property with no double glazing and opposite a pub and next to a theatre so it was very noisy all night. The tv has not been working for a long time - maybe years looking at other reviews. No Wi-Fi too. Very poor effort for such a great location.

Ali Inn - pluses and minuses.
The directions to the hotel sent me all over Oxford where even the natives couldn’t point out the inn - or had ever heard of it. When the description says the hotel has TV, they mean that literally - there is a TV, but it has no channels and when I asked why it won’t work, the answer was “the rain.” The towel warmer in the bathroom also didn’t work. I am traveling for 3 months, and being able to dry a bit of laundry becomes important. The room was cleaned once during a 4-night stay. On the plus side, the man at reception carried my heavy suitcase up and down the stairs, something I would have had trouble with on my own. Another plus- it’s perfectly located.
Absolutely disgraceful to list rooms at this property as £138 pounds per night for a double. The entrance looked like the back of a restaurant, manager on front desk gave poor greeting and just gave us a key no other information. Room was filthy, dust everywhere, dirty teacups, hair on linen. The fan was caked in dust. The bathroom had black mould, faeces in the toilet and all over toilet brush. Spoke to manager who said he had a cleaner clean it! He offered a second room, we accepted as didn’t want to ruin our trip but after 5 minutes in room it was only slightly better. Broken toilet seat, dirty fan, window wouldn’t open, smears on glass and dirty water in tooth brush holder..faeces in toilet and in brush. Stains on mattress absolutely gross. We decided despite it ruining our evening and trip we couldn’t stay. Went to speak to manager no staff anywhere to be found. Left key at front desk and text manager on number we had. No reply to request for refund no reply at all. Great location, good pictures on Expedia but don’t be fooled this is false this was worse then a hostel and absolutely filthy how they can get away with charging £140 for this is disgraceful. Awful customer service. Avoid at all costs!
