Glide down the slopes of this mountain pass and visit the neighboring valley resorts in one of Europe’s highest ski areas.

Passo Rolle is a scenic mountain pass with ski areas and rustic trails decorating its valleys. The ski zone reaches an elevation of 7,280 feet (2,220 meters) and is part of the larger Val di Fiemme network.

Explore the 11 slopes of varying difficulty in the Passo Rolle system. It contains a thrilling black run of 2 miles (3 kilometers), an easy green slope of 0.5 mile (1 kilometer) and 9 intermediate runs. Rent equipment from the resort and try sledding or snowboarding. The ski area has five ski lifts and 3 miles (5 kilometers) of cross-country trails.

Ski down the entire slope of neighboring San Martino and ride the free bus back up to the top. Stop off for snacks and refreshments at huts that line the snowy slopes. Freestyle in the Rolle Railz Park or nearby Colverde Snowpark, which has an innovative lighting system.

Hear about the history of the mountain ridge. The road that passes through it was built over 11 years from 1863, when the territory was part of Austria. Note how towns and directions tend to have both German and Italian words resulting from the mixed occupancy.

The ski resort opens daily between morning and late afternoon from November until late April. Purchase a day pass, with discounts for kids.

Passes tend to grant access to the entire Val di Fiemme area, which includes Alpe Cermis, Bellamonte, Latemar and several other resorts. In total, the valley contains 60 ski lifts and 123 slopes that cover a distance of 43 miles (70 kilometers).

Passo Rolle is a resort 43 miles (70 kilometers) southeast of the city of Bolzano in northern Italy. It stands between the valleys of Primeiro and Fiemme in the province of Trentino. Fly to the nearest major international transportation hub of Innsbruck Airport in Austria or travel to the domestic airport in Bolzano from other parts of Italy.
