Wonderful Home with all the special touches
Our group of 6 women stayed at Grandma Helen's House while biking in Dallas County IA. We felt so fortunate to have found this wonderful VRBO. The home is beautiful with so many special touches!!! We loved the beautiful wood work in an and built in areas. Spacious with 6 bedrooms, newly remodeled kitchen. Very roomy living areas. Super clean. Beds were super comfortable. The owners were super good to work with. Kept in touch with us. Alerted us about a tornado watch and told us how to get to the basement if we needed to. They left a bouquet of lovely lilacs at our door. I would highly recommend this property. You won't be disappointed!

Helen's House was absolutely perfect.
Such an enjoyable stay. We brought our grandkids (age 3 and 1), our daughter and her husband. It was very spacious for all with everything we needed for the kids. Love the location. Close to downtown, cute shops and restaurants. Very clean, excellent communication throughout our stay. I would highly recommend Helen's House. So cozy and comfortable.

Very nice property and helpful hosts
This is a beautiful, large, comfortable and very clean property - a house that has obviously been loved by prior and current generations. Especially fun were the momentos of family history sprinkled throughout the house. The kitchen is well equipped, and bathrooms have plenty of towels and supplies - very helpful when you have a large group. The hosts were very responsive and helpful throughout our stay.

beautiful early 20th century house
Grandma Helen's house is a house with plenty of character, as well as being quite suitable for larger groups. We booked the house as our son was getting married in nearby Madrid and we wanted a place for the groom's men to be able to stay the night before the wedding. For this it worked perfectly. Then, when the wedding was over, and the grooms-men had gone, it was great to have a place for our family to unwind for a couple of days. The kitchen is well suited for cooking. We did a pancake breakfast the day of the wedding, and fetuccini for a late meal after. There were plenty of dishes, pans, etc. and we were able to cook almost as if at home. The two dining tables are great for games. Also, we had two small children (ages 5 and 8) with us, and the kids bunk-bed room was perfect for them and the 5 year old loved the toys. I don't know if we will ever be in Perry again, but if we are, we would be delighted to stay in Grandma Helen's house again.

Sets the standard
This lovely, historic home is well-maintained and situated in a pleasant neighborhood. Within walking distance is Perry's downtown--well above average as far as small towns go. Besides its historic structure and the furnishings and decorations that add to its charm, the house has all the necessities to make it comfortable (we have a large family and always do a lot of cooking when we stay in a rental and the kitchen in this house was the best equipped of any we've ever stayed in). Finally, the manager was perfectly communicative and responsive.

Iowa Watercolor Society Spring Workshop
Grandma Helen's House was the PERFECT property for our group of Iowa Watercolor Society (IWS) member artists in town to attend the spring workshop at La Poste. The home has so much character and warmth. The host's attention to detail is obvious and made us all feel so welcome. We will look to reserve this property again for future IWS workshops!

Where small town USA intersects with Fall Harvest
The house far exceeded our expectations. The house was lovely, too unique to show in a listing. It was an arts and craft home that has been modernized with all of the conveniences needed. My husband isn't easy to get reactions from when we use VRBO, but he was a full two thumbs up! Great hosts and wonderful stay!

Amazing Lodging
I cannot give enough positive adjectives regarding this property and the owner. The owner is a very accommodating individual, and the home is just beautiful. Would recommend it to anyone. My only problem is that I cannot currently come up with a reason to book again soon. My guests were also delighted with it. Thank you so much for allowing us to experience it.

Wonderful Stay!
We booked Mindy's property to attend a family wedding, and it was perfect! There was plenty of room for my husband and I and our two kids, as well as my parents, to all stay together which was ideal. The house is beautiful and very well kept, and has great indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy. It's also conveniently located very close to a grocery store, and downtown Perry. And the host, Mindy, provided excellent communication during our stay! We definitely hope to be able to stay here again in the future!

Stunning home for our women's biking adventure
The pictures don't do justice to this stunning, comfortable, and roomy home. We are a group of 8 women who came to Perry to bike the nearby trails. The home was beautiful. From the well planned kitchen, the back deck with with gorgeous flowers where we enjoyed cocktails, to the spacious bedrooms with great mattresses and good nightssleeping everything was wonderful. Lots of parking. Mindi was super responsive to questions and gave great reccommdations . Close to bike trails, cute shops and good restaurants in Perry made for a fantastic adventure weekend.

This house is…AMAZING!!! Being a wood worker, I thoroughly enjoyed the structure and build. The history of the furnishings were awesome to enjoy. My wife and I have never been that far North and it was quite impressive. I highly recommend staying here and will keep them in mind for any future visits.

Perfect for large family group
We stayed here for five nights as a group of 14 family members. We found that the house has 13 beds and a crib, but we were able to use extra pillows and blankets to make a 14th bed. This is an AMAZING home! Very tastefully remodeled (and huge!), it is the perfect marriage of past and present. You can feel the history in this home, and read about it too, and many of the original touches have been preserved. Very well done. We stayed here for a family reunion at Spring Lake, which is about 30 minutes away. Des Moines is also only about 30 mins away. This was the perfect property for us in all respects. The kitchen is fabulous, the host Mindy is very helpful, the A/C provides respite from the heat, the wifi is fast, and the front porch was perfect for watching a night time thunderstorm. And there's a grocery store 2 blocks away, which we walked to several times for provisions. You won't be disappointed!
