We have been loyal guests at Barceló Manzanillo for years, but sadly this was our last visit. It’s disappointing to see how much the service and maintenance have declined, especially for a resort that is not inexpensive.
The biggest disappointment was the new rule prohibiting food at the beach and pool. Guests must eat in a tiny designated area with only a few tables. If they’re full, you’re expected to eat in nearby chairs, which completely takes away from the resort experience.
The property also needs better maintenance. The buffet’s air conditioner was leaking water onto the floor and even onto guests near the children’s food area and the coffee station. The Wi-Fi constantly disconnected throughout our stay.
As VIP guests, we were promised a complimentary bottle that was never delivered.
The worst part was checkout. We politely asked for one extra hour, and the front desk staff was rude. When we said this would be our last stay after years of loyalty, they simply replied, “Too bad.”
Some employees were kind and helpful, but the service is too inconsistent. It’s heartbreaking to see a resort we once loved decline so much. Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend Barceló Manzanillo.
