Lovely place to stay,lovely balcony with sea views,the two lady's who served breakfast were lovely, friendly, and chatty, it's a very busy place,so unfortunately the rest of the staff didn't have time to chat, we would stay again.

lovely stay directly across from the beach. Steep walk uphill to the main town and railway station but there was a regular bus service during the day. Inn is a busy restaurant but no late night noise. Very friendly, helpful staff. Room small but had everything that was needed. Included breakfast was perfect to set you up for the day

We really enjoyed our stay at the Steamer Inn and will definitely be going back. Our room had everything we needed for our stay, it was clean and if we needed anything replenishing it was there. The view from our balcony was fantastic. The location was perfect, Theres a bus stop outside the Inn to take you to the town, bus or train station making the whole island accessible for those without a car, I cant speak highly enough of all the staff, a hard working team who made it look effortless. Very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The dining area was very clean and well presented. Lots of quirky bits to catch the eye. Breakfast was good and a great way to start the day, with something for everyone. We had planned to have our main meals out but the food was so good we ate there every night. Again something on the menu for everyone. The meat is from local butchers and is very good. They keep an excellent bar. The service from the staff was excellent, busy or quiet the service was maintained.at a high standard. Would highly recommend

Location could not be faulted as right opposite the seafront. Found on street parking ok although one evening the overnight charge wouldn’t go through on our cards and cost 5x the £2 fee on pay by park, Room was nice although with the hot weather leaving the window open did lead to lots of outside noise from pub staff moving barrels and emptying bottle bins, The restraint was good with live music on one evening

Convenient location for sea front and very nice balcony to sit and relax, although quite small. Rooms and pub clean and the meals were standard pub fare with excellent specials. Parking can be an issue when there's something happening on the beach or in the sea, we were there during the rowing regatta and the front was very busy. Would stop again

My friend and I stayed at The Steamer Inn, Shanklin for 3 nights earlier this week. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The service was excellent as was the food; the "included" english breakfast was great, served freshly cooked and well-presented. The Steamer Inn was well located for the buses (50 yards across the road) which we made good use of throughout our stay. It was a shame the lift from the esplanade to the top of the cliff was out of action but instead we made good use of our Shanklin Chine ticket (valid from first use throughout our stay) as a more pleasant walk upto Shanklin Old Village and beyond rather that walk the longer way round.

Lovely comfortable room with en suite and stunning view of the beach across the road from our balcony. Impressed with the high standard of cleanliness and the friendly staff. The included Breakfast was good and we additionally ate at the bar for the 3 nights we stayed as there was an excellent and reasonably priced menu. Overall, very impressed and will come again.

We had a balcony room overlooking the esplanade and beach. It was spacious, a comfortable bed, plenty of drawers and hanging space and a very large shower room with walk-in shower with slip-mat, pedestal basin and WC. There was tea, coffee, hot chocolate provided with kettle and a hairdryer. The towels were white and fresh as was the bed linen. The pub itself was decorated in a nautical theme. The menu was eclectic and the portions very generous. You can dine inside or out on the terrace which was well shaded. The staff are very hard-working and nothing is a problem for them. We would certainly return. Breakfast was varied with plenty of freshly made tea and filter coffee, juices, the full English or various options. Vegetarians are well catered for too.

Amazing place the steamer

Our stay was fantastic the room was lovely and clean and the staff were amazing so helpful being on the seafront was a bonus we ate every night there the food was fantastic and well worth the money we have just come back from a lovely long weekend and already planning to go back there next year

Thank you Steamer Inn. We had a sea view balcony room. Wonderful location and great staff. It is not The Ritz nor does it pretend to be. But it does have a comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the sea. Local information (guides, maps etc) are also available. We have stayed there before and we will return. It's nice to be shown to your room (we were given an early check in) and the shower was very good. The breakfast was also very good. If we were to nit pick, some coat hooks in the room (perhaps on the back of the door) would be useful and it would be nice to have some lighter options at breakfast (yogurts, fruits etc) would be good. Looking further into the season, it would be nice to have somewhere to hang wet swimwear after the beach.

We had a lovely short break at The Steamer for the second time. The room was a good size with a great sea view. Breakfast was served in the bar area and was plentiful and very tasty. We ate in the bar every night as the food was delicious and we didn't see any reason to venture further for food.
