Where to stay in Shonan

Every year in summer, a Star Festival is held called Tanabata. Two star deities, Orihime and Hikoboshi, can meet each other in the night sky. Theirs is a tragic love story, but children celebrate them by writing wishes on streamers to fly to the heavens. This festival is a major event in Sendai, but it's smaller cousin in Hiratsuka is also impressive and a lot of fun! Wear your yukata or jinbei!

While Katase might not have many sights to explore, venturing just a little farther will lead you to top things to see and do like Enoshima Aquarium and Shonankaigan Park.
