"I stayed for one night, in the middle of the heatwave, before joining a cruise the next day.
Firstly, the hotel offered a great rate for 'cruise parking', saving me 50% had I chosen to par at the dock itself!
I arrived reasonably late in the evening, just before 'last orders' for food in the bar yet I was promptly served (excellent lasagne) in the garden, which was lovely given the light breeze to counter the heat of the day. The barmaid hunted high and low (twice!) to make sure that my drink had plenty of ice, which was much needed, and greatly appreciated.
When I got round to moving into my room, it was great to find that a small/portable electric fan had been supplied, which was a life saver, given the stifling heat of the day and night.
Also, during the process of moving in (via an outer door!) I managed to leave the door key 9attached to my car/hoe keys!) in the door overnight, without realising and was really relieved that they were found by the Night Porter and then that the receptionist phoned me the next morning to let me know! Much appreciated.
I had a good breakfast the next morning, at a reasonable price and was then delighted that the Receptionist was willing and able to book me a taxi to take me to my cruise. Again, very helpful. As I had a few hours to kill before it arrived, it was great being able to safely store my luggage at the hotel while I did some local shopping.
When next staying in Southampton, I will be returning!
