"Absolutely beautiful estate, inside and out."

"Good breakfast and no overall complaints. A fire alarm had all of us out of the hotel in the cold for half an hour at 4AM, but that's likely not on the hotel. I was a little surprised there were no apologies or offers to reduce the rate a bit or even a free breakfast or something because of the situation. Staff was across the board pleasant but kind of detached feeling. Seemed like this property wanted you to know it was your privilege to stay there. Rooms very dated and rather noisy interior. Overall clean, but probably places at the bottom of the list of properties I stayed in during a nearly two-week trip to Scotland and northern England."

"My wife and I had a decent stay at the Royal Marine, though it was a bit of a mixed bag. The building looks magnificent, and although a little tired, has fantastic potential with some TLC. Our room was spotless, and we enjoyed paying extra for the sea view; watching the ferry terminal activity was actually quite relaxing. However, the hotel is feeling a little run-down and in need of some modernising. We also found the breakfast disappointing, which let the experience down. Whilst we enjoyed our visit to Dunoon, I doubt we'll be rushing back anytime soon."

"Really enjoyed our stay at The Grey Gull Hotel. The hotel is a little dated in places, but our room was clean and spacious with a nicely renovated bathroom. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, including with our dog. Food was tasty and reasonably priced too. Great value for money and we’d stay again."
