One of Tokyo’s tallest buildings rises from the center of an eclectic hub containing fashionable galleries and restaurants and a tranquil park with cherry blossoms.

Tokyo Midtown is a vast, modern complex containing many shops, galleries and restaurants. A scenic park wraps around the northern side of the compound, which consists of a set of glassy towers and open-air plazas. Wander through the building and appreciate the innovative architecture and public works of art.

Marvel at the sheer size of the 814-foot-tall (248-meter) Midtown Tower that rises from the core of the complex. For spectacular views of Tokyo’s skyline, dine at one of the upscale restaurants or stay for a couple nights at the skyscraper’s Ritz Carlton Tokyo hotel.

Enter the neighboring Galleria building and browse its many high-end boutiques. Admire the elegant interior that features wooden columns and floral arrangements. Take a break in one of the cafés and restaurants, before visiting the Suntory Museum of Art for its displays focusing on Japanese styles of art.

Enjoy the fresh air and bucolic setting of 10-acre (4-hectare) Hinokicho Park along the complex’s northern side. Rest with a book in the shade of the cherry blossom trees, which show off a light pink hue in late March and April.

Stroll through the Japanese-style garden and relax in the serenity of the pond area that helps you to forget the noise and stress of the city center. Among the park’s highlights is the 21_21 Design Sight gallery, whose exhibits showcase modern Japanese artworks and design elements.

Note that the shops and restaurants open daily from late morning until late evening, although individual business times may vary.

Tokyo Midtown is located a little west of the Minato district of southern Tokyo. It stands in an area filled with art galleries and is served by Roppongi Station on the Oedo Line. Make your way around the area for other treasures such as Nogi Park, the Gallery Ma and the National Art Center, Tokyo.
