Swim, fish, boat or just relax and enjoy the "Rivah Life" at Little Oyster

Fifty feet from the Rappahannock River sits the historic farm home built in 1917 by local renowned boat builder Gilbert White. Just updated with all of the modern amenities, it is the ideal home to relax and enjoy the Rivah Life with friends and family.
Sitting on a large quiet cove at the mouth of the Rappahannock and Chesapeake, you can avail yourself of the crabbing, fishing and wildlife viewing that is literally at your doorstep. With a personal beach and dock, you can bring your power boat to tie up all week or rent one from our local rental companies. We provide two kayaks, along with life jackets of various sizes as well as a 12 ft long floating mat to enjoy. Crab trap, fishing pole and oyster rake are available to try your luck at catching dinner.

This home offers 4 bedrooms, two of which are joined as a suite. With 2,100 square feet, living room, sunroom, and two full baths, it is an ideal size for two families to share, perhaps with grand parents along staying in the first floor queen size bedroom. The kitchen has all the amenities, including dishwasher, gas stove, microwave and lots of extras that make cooking for a group easier. We have high-speed wifi, central air/heat, deck, jacuzzi and gazebo with great views of the water.

Little Oyster is available for Sat-Sat rentals through early September, with a minimum 7-day stay. We are a strict no smoking home, and we're sorry but we're not allowing pets.

Little Oyster is located on Fleets Island, just minutes from White Stone, Irvington, and Kilmarnock. Enjoy the local wineries, take the family to the Compass Entertainment Center for a round of putt-putt golf and a movie, go antiquing at the many shops in the area, and dine out at fantastic restaurants, including the famous Tides Inn. Or plan a day of history - you can be in Yorktown in an hour and Williamsburg in 1-1/2 hours.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to enjoy a week living the "Rivah Life" down here in the Northern Neck.

Girls’ weekend
So much fun to stay in a 1917 farm house. Unfortunately didn’t appear haunted but we did have a mouse visit last night. We probably should have anticipated that in a farm house & put our snacks away better. Loved the view, the hot tub, firepit, the very comfortable beds, the veranda/sunroom, etc. We would’ve made use of the kayaks had the weekend not been a total rainout. We did make good use of the rain boots for a beautiful walk. Perfect getaway location.

Relaxing with beautiful sunsets
Great location close to Windmill point marina for bigger boats. We had a great time crabbing from the dock and kayaking out to the sandbar to visit the rays. Easy drive into Whitestone and Kilmarnock.

Two Families
Older farm house in good condition with modern amenities. Quiet, private location for a relaxing week away. Only wish was to know the channel route out to the big water. The neighbor was kind enough to show us the route. Sweet dock for the boat and fishing!

River stay
We rented this house for two families and it was perfect! The house was beautiful, beds were comfortable and the location was very nice. We enjoyed our stay. The home owners were very responsive to any questions or issues we had. I would recommend for anyone to stay here.

Best time at Little Oyster
My family cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at Little Oyster. The owners responded to all of questions quickly and ensured that we had everything we needed. The house is close enough to grocery stores for anything you might need and our only recommendation would be to bring water shoes for swimming. We caught plenty of fish and crabs for a seafood feast! Will definitely keep this on our list to look into for future stays.

Family vacation
We typically do an OBX vacation but wanted to switch it up this year. This house was the perfect layout for our family (my parents, mother in law, sister + cousin, and us + our daughter) and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. The kitchen was easily the best stocked I’ve ever seen for a rental. It is very isolated (don’t expect a nightlife or anything like that) but the views could not be beat. Almost every room in the house had an amazing water view. We ate crabs from Miss Mary’s literally every night (the owners provide a very nice list of places to eat/shop around). We had a plumbing issue that was immediately dealt with, they were so responsive to any messages or questions we had. The dock was the perfect place to sit and enjoy the weather, tan, fish, and crab. We tied a floating raft to hang out on for a couple of days during a visit. They provided kayaks, and we brought our own paddle boards. If you stay in this home you have to go out on the water! It’s clear and warm and there’s a lovely sandbar not far from the house where we watched string rays swim for hours. If you want an escape from it all, or a great spot for a family vacation this is the place!

Island Times
Great location. The water is just 50 feet from the sun porch. That room is the best, all windows, a TV, small dining table. My 2 year old grandson loved being there and loved the outside, particularly the little beach. The kitchen was fully stocked and a delight to use, facing the water. Bedrooms had direct water views. The room spaces had doors and gates available so we could keep an eye on our toddler. My son-in-law fished daily. I took three kayak trips, one to a remote beach. Golfed up in Quinton Oaks. There was more but you get the picture! Thanks Michael and Elizabeth!
