"We were overall very pleased with the hotel. Our only minor comments were the lifts (can be frustrating at busy times) and the hot breakfast (bacon and sausage were not great). Otherwise I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel and would stay again when we return to the beautiful city of Porto. "Staff were nice enough but not overly helpful. We actually had two separate bookings. First one was for 2 days and then we added another day. We asked what rates were available as they had a few empty rooms. We actually ended up booking through Expedia again because it was quite a bit less than what they offered at the front counter. There was nothing being offered to guests at check in - water or a complementary drink like most other 4 star hotels in Europe. There was a foul smell in the lobby during the three days. The hotel seems to be relying on people willing to accept less than other comparable hotels due to its proximity to the Douro River. Great location but otherwise it’s an average hotel."
