We had the most interesting an friendly stay at B & L. It was like staying in a curated historic boarding house. Leslie the owner/manager/decorator/"tour guide", was so helpful and patience with our group of 10 friends. each room was themed after a part of her family heritage and experiences.
I highly recommend staying there.
Great stay!! We would definitely stay here again. The bed was very comfortable. We didn’t see or experience any ghosts but it definitely has some spookiness to it. If you are looking for a different kind of experience this is the place
This is a fabulous property. Built in 1887 and still has that historic feel. The owners are awesome and did a great job renovating the building. You must know that it has a large shared bathroom area, no bathrooms in individual rooms. This wasn’t a problem for us but something to be aware of. The bathrooms are well designed and still private spaces just not in your room.
The beds are outrageously comfortable and the best towels I’ve ever used. There are no TVs anywhere and this allowed for a nice break and forced game and reading time.
This is a must stay at place!
This is an historic building that has been restored and upgraded. It is quaint, charming and off the beaten path in the beautiful Boston Mountains in the Ozarks. Chester in on an old rail line that ran North/South along the Northwestern border of Arkansas from Van Buren to Fayetteville (Woo Pig Sooie). The rail line was the major transportation line until US highway 71 was built. The highway bypassed Chester so its economy collapsed and left this old boarding house/inn to languish until the folks who own it now have it restored. Now the new Interstate 49 runs by and it has had an impact on all the little towns along the old highway 71, but Chester can now be easily accessed by an off ramp. If you want an experience on your way to a Razorback football or basketball game, try it out. If you like a cookie cutter motel, this place is not it!
This place is truly amazing. So much love and attention has been put into the place. We look forward to staying again! I would to the the restaurant again. Thank you!
This was by far the best place I’ve stayed in a long while. We stayed a night and wished we didn’t have to go back home and back to work. Chester is a tiny town of 150 people but what a mighty little town. We can’t wait to get back!!!
The owners did a fantastic job renovating this old building. Each room is unique and stays with the time period of the building.
The community bathrooms provide a unique environment. My daughter and I chatted with such nice ladies as we were going in and out of the bathroom area.
It was convenient that there are no specific hours for the breakfast bar. There was a fine variety of easy, make for yourself options.
My daughter had yogurt and oatmeal, and I had toasted peanut butter and jelly with coffee, of course.
The owner was friendly.

I briefly tried to sleep in room 1. Whatever the noise that repeats every 5 minutes or so was awful. I travel with silicone earplugs. Attempted to sleep from 11 until 2 when I got fed up with the noise and just left. Also there are roaches under the toaster. Saw the black trap so yall are aware of those. I can honestly get over a bug, but being unable to sleep ruined a competition I’d been training months for.
Check-in was a pain at night. The instructions were not sent to us and there were multiple phone numbers to call. We finally got someone. The room itself was WONDERFUL. We really loved the charm. The shared bathrooms are pretty, but lots of guest hair in the ladies’ shower area.
