“We frequently choose older motels that cost less. We look closely at their photos, and if it looks updated and clean we choose it. Usually we find it is owned/managed by an immigrant family, frequently from the Subcontinent, and they do an excellent job with the older property. The Royal Inn in Hudson, Wis., is such a place. It was very clean, the air conditioning worked well on a hot day, parked right in front of our room. Convenient location.”

“No replacement of toilet paper. No Kleenex. Did not make bed in the morning or remove the trash. Tub dripped. Coffee maker leaked and could not be used. Only good things to say are the reasonable price and the AC worked.”

“Only one pillow per person. No way to have a bath since no stoppers were available. Staff didn't know their own wifi password. Furniture torn and walls gouged.”

“The motel reminded me a little of the motels from the 1950. My room was clean and nicely decorated. It had a coffee maker, a microwave, and a refrigerator that was larger than I expected. I was able to park right in front of the door to my room, which made moving my luggage easy. The room rates were reasonable compared with other motels in the area. They do not provide breakfast but there is a very nice restaurant next door that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with good food at reasonable……

“The hall smelled like cat pee. Pets were allowed so every morning there was a dog barking outside. A/C could not keep up, but staff did find us a fan. Not enough outlets in the room. Q- Tips and Kleenex behind the furniture.”
