Restaurants in this huge market will cook and serve you the fish that you select in this interesting and efficient organization at the heart of Incheon’s traditions.

The Incheon Complex Fish Market is one of the highlights of the city, providing a glimpse of local culture and ambiance. In addition to more typical catches, the market is known for its stalls of exotic and unusual aquatic creatures for you to try. Eat raw samples and Korean delicacies caught by local fishermen in the Yellow Sea.

When you arrive, marvel at the sheer size of the enormous complex, which hosts about 500 individual stalls. The covered market consists of three immense buildings, creating an undulating design with a bright blue roof.

Enter the market to a sea of stalls and bright lights, as you take in the sights, smells and sounds of this cornerstone of Incheon culture.

Choose from hundreds of different types of fish and chat with the vendors about prices and specialties. Blue crab, yellow corvina and cutlass fish are among the typical mainstays. Sample little snacks from the piles of oysters and prawns. Brave yourself for some of the more striking sea creatures, such as the large rays that seem to smile at you as you go by.

While these types of markets are often somewhat disorderly, this particular one is known for its excellent organization. Purchase your fish and have it cooked for you and served at one of the restaurants inside the market.

The site opens most days from early morning until late evening. Enter for free. Parking spaces are usually available.

The Incheon Complex Fish Market is in the Jung-gu neighborhood of western Incheon. Take a bus directly from the Sinpo Traditional Market in the center of Incheon to get here in about 30 minutes. If you arrive at the port ferry terminal, walk east for 10 minutes to reach the market.

While in the city, check out other highlights, including the Wolmi Theme Park, Songdo Central Park and the Incheon Art Platform.
