Visit Sublime Point Lookout for one of the best places to admire the natural wonders of Blue Mountains National Park. Pack your binoculars to spot birds as you gaze out over the spectacular Jamison Valley from the panoramic viewpoint. Then, choose from a range of walking trails to explore the famous region.
From the parking lot, follow an easy path that crosses a bridge over an impressive ravine. Along the way, watch and listen for cockatoos in the trees. Step onto the observation platform and see Mount Solitary rising out of the early morning mist. The iconic natural wonders of Kings Tableland and the Three Sisters rest on either side of the lookout. This is a lovely spot for a picnic, with a few wooden tables not far from the parking lot.
If you’re an experienced rock climber, join a tour to climb the sheer cliffs around Sublime Point. With names such as “Sweet Dreams” and “Hells Bells,” the different climbing routes offer challenging and fun adventures. For the most part, the climbs are rated as intermediate for those with experience, with incredible views across the Jamison Valley hundreds of yards below.
Sublime Point Lookout is located in Leura, an area filled with walking trails close to a quaint village center. Set aside time to enjoy Leura Cascades, with scenic picnic areas and trails leading to picturesque waterfalls. Choose short paths for easy strolls with children or pack your water and snacks to follow trails all day.
The Leura Cascades Circuit leads you along a creek with swirling rapids toward the top of the magnificent Leura Falls. Take the Round Track to head downstream to a natural arena on the Amphitheatre Track. If you enjoy bird-watching, this is the place to get out your binoculars. Keep going along Fern Bower Track for more lookouts and amazing rock formations.
Sublime Point Lookout is open every day, year-round. Travel here via a short drive from Leura village, where you’ll find boutique shops, quaint restaurants and accommodations. Drive to Blue Mountains National Park from Sydney in about 1.5 hours.
