Location was great, walked to Train station, the market square, along the river. Staff very friendly and helpful. Left my stuff in the cloakroom for the day. Hotel had an old world charm, room was small, but modern and clean. Would go back.

We missed the entrance at first because there is a lot of scaffolding around it. We received a warm welcome and were thankful there was a lift. Our room was small but still manageable. Bed was comfortable, water hot and WiFi good. We had a light meal in the restaurant and service was good. If you have a car, there is a carpark just around the corner. From memory you pay between the hours of 8 to 6 we arrived late afternoon, paid £1.70 for the last hour of the day and then it was free until 8 a.m. in the morning. We only stayed one night so not sure what you need to do for longer. We would definitely stay again.

A very mediocre experience. The staff were generally focused on their own efficiency and not customer service and I felt an inconvenience from the start. No friendly contact - front desk head down when I was waiting, passing, checking out. Every question with staff felt like I was asking too much - can my fellow traveller get in after 11pm, can we have two keys, what time will we need to vacate dining room after breakfast … can we please chose our table .. and not even a glance as we checked out. Room was comfy enough when we eventually found it on third floor. Half of first floor really overwhelming smell of cooking meat. Won’t be returning in a hurry.

Excellent hotel and very close to centre and shops staff so helpful and friendly and excellent choice of breakfast the only downside was lift to floors especially if you are disabled but very helpful staff try to accommodate
