I’ve traveled all over the world, and my stay at the Inn at Park Spring ranks as one of my all-time favorites. Not only is it a very comfortable and homey inn, closely located to many points of interest, but John, the innkeeper during my stay, was an incredibly gracious host. Delicious breakfast, convenient parking, comfortable room, great hospitality. Two blocks that way. Old Port? Six blocks this way. Free off-street parking in a parking-challenged city is a major plus. John (the host) is a friendly Portland enthusiast with great knowledge of the city and things to do on and off the beaten path—and makes killer gourmet breakfasts and snacks. House itself is a lovely mid-19th century place with modern amenities. Only potential negatives are stairs to the entrance and rooms (if climbing is a problem for you; wasn’t for us) and a curious lack of coffee outside breakfast hours. (Hot water, tea and snacks are always there, so why not single-serve coffee bags?) Our inkeeoer, John Friend, made gourmet breakfasts daily, and gave us excellent recommendations for activities food and drink, Every afternoon there were fresh baked cookies waiting for us in the dining room! The Inn is lovely, clean and very comfortable and is within walking distance to Okd Port and several museums.
