We loved seeing the alpacas and cuy on the grounds - and appreciated gazebos, swings and teeter totter for fun moments. The area immediately around the hotel was great. Two to 3 blocks past the hotel felt a little unsafe and unkept. Puno has the potential to be an great destination by itself, but has a way to go before it gets there.

We found everyone friendly and helpful. It took a couple of days to adjust to the altitude but then the cool mountain air and sunshine were lovely. We looked up old friends and found some new ones.

I liked Puno because it was easy to get around on foot. The central market was under construction but there were many other shops. The Artisan Market had lots of variety and reasonable prices. Good place to launch a visit to Lake Titicaca.
