"This is an excellent hotel for one or two nights ( the rooms are small) but very clean, with helpful staff and in a very convenient location only 5 minutes walk from the station and 10 minutes walk to Matsumoto castle. The room rate was very good and this hotel offers good value."

"We stayed in this ryokan for a family trip. The city is unknown to non-Japanese people, but the people at the ryokan were so kind and helpful. Sometimes it was not easy to communicate as their English was not the best, but they tried their best to help. The meals were awesome, and the bath places were great as well. We were totally satisfied and I strongly recommend this place."

"Beautiful hotel lobby and very friendly staff. Location can be a challenge to get to if the roads are snowy. 4WD / snow tire or chains a must in winter. "

"Really enjoyed our short stay and visiting this area. Walkable distance from the station and lake. A full Japanese-style breakfast was beautifully presented with some alternatives also on offer - fruit, eggs, bacon etc. We visited in May when the hotel and Suwa generally were very quiet so we were able to enjoy the hotel facilitie - the modern reception area and onsen. Good size room with twin beds. Go for one with a lake view if possible."

"Hotel was nice with a nice public bath. Breakfast had many options and night noodles and snacks available after public bath was nice. Rooms were comfortable."
"We had a lovely stay at the Karuizawa Marriott Hotel. The room was neat and tidy, and we especially appreciated the wooden flooring, which gave the space a warm and clean feel. It was spacious enough for a family with kids, making it very comfortable for us. The onsen facilities were also excellent, adding a relaxing touch to our stay. Overall, a very positive experience and a hotel we’d happily return to."
"We stayed in the Standard Double Room, Non Smoking (No Extra Bed, 18 sqm). The room was clean, practical, and slightly more spacious than typical business hotels. The bathroom had a small bath tub, which is customary, and a humidifier was provided where you add your own water before switching it on. Amenities such as coffee, toothbrushes, and combs were available at the lobby’s self-service corner.
Check in was smooth and the hotel already had our Expedia reservations prepared. As with most Japanese hotels, copies of our passports were taken during registration. The hotel also provides coin laundry facilities along with vending machines for drinks and beer.
The location is convenient, a short walk from Matsumoto Station and within walking distance to Matsumoto Castle. While there is a shopping mall right beside the hotel, it is currently closed. The nearest active mall is further south, closer to the bus terminal.
Overall, Richmond Hotel Matsumoto provided a comfortable stay in a well connected part of the city."
"Fantastic stay which totally exceeded my expectations!
Location:
* Convenient: about 5-7 minutes walk from Matsumoto Station and Matsumoto Bus Terminal
* About 15–20 minutes walk from the main attractions like Matsumoto Castle
* Lawson and Family Mart convenience stores at your doorstep
* Safe and quiet neighbourhood
Rooms:
* The room was surprisingly spacious and very clean
* Beds are really comfortable
* The hotel provides guests with their owj junbei to wear in the room and around the hotel premises
Amenities and service:
* Staff were very friendly and helpful; check-in was a breeze
* I was totally amazed at the buffet breakfast which featured such a delicious variety of Japanese dishes. Really really good and one of the highlights of my stay
I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone staying at Matsumoto!
