It takes some 3 to 4 hours to get there and from Ak-su you can stop marshrutka bus to Karakol. The altitude is ca. 2.500 and Ak-su is some 2.000. From Karakol you can catch another marshrutka eastwards along the south shore of Issyk-kul to Kaji Say or Balykchy or westwards to get to the north shore to Cholpon Ata (interesting petroglyphs there). ](https://images.trvl-media.com/place/553248635996998234/4b018089-3673-4ba1-bd04-f3ec553aa7b7.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=1040&h=580&q=mediumHigh) ![August 2013 Altyn Arashan, Terskey Alatau, Tian Shan mountains, Kyrgyzstan View of Arashan river in the village of Altyn Arashan located in a lush valley where sheep and horses are herded by locals. The pipe is for hot water coming from near springs to concrete basins for relaxing bathing. The water is naturally very hot (45 degrees Celsius) and sulphuric. For equivalent of few dollars you can enjoy it anytime of the day. The water in the river is on the opposite very cold and wild even in summer months.
