The Royalton Resort on Saint Lucia is in a beautiful location. It is quite a distant ride from the airport (at least 90 minutes - so be prepared). The staff was excellent; very accommodating and friendly. The pool and beach area were very clean and well staffed - offering towels and bar service. The bars provided a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, but don't expect top shelf without extra cost. There was no food service at the outside bars, which would have been a great addition. The room itself was very comfortable and the swim up pool directly outside was a real plus. The cleanliness of the room left a bit to be desired - we found hairs on the floor and in the sink area. The housekeeping service was very good and restocked our coffee and mini-fridge daily. There were a few negatives: we were having a drink at the Martini bar and I stepped away for a moment and my white shawl was stolen from my chair. Also, the Expedia rep at check in told us we could get breakfast at the Italian restaurant near the pool. When we showed up, we were told that it was closed and we had to return to the buffet. Also, we made reservations for the a la carte meal at the Japanese restaurant. When we arrived, we were told only the Tepanyaki was available and we had to stay as it was too late to make reservation elsewhere. Some people may enjoy the show, but I didn't want to catch a piece of egg in my mouth that was thrown by the chef. Overall, dining was at most a B experience!

I like how empty the Beach was given the fact that I was unaware that it was mostly a timeshare place which left the beach pretty empty unless it was the weekend. However, they do not tell you that when you get the unlimited package, it does not mean unlimited because apparently top shelf, liquor and shrimp and lobster and certain cuts of meat are not included in the package for the all-inclusive but they don’t tell you that they also don’t tell you that they’re going to charge you $12 a day at the end of your stay you just get a bill and wonder why always ask apparently. So many mosquitoes bring bug spray and your inside is not a safety zone for bugs trust me I got bit mostly when I was inside very expensive hotel terrible gift shop never go food shopping in St. Lucia. You will be broke afterwards. There is a laundry room in your room most likely so don’t overpack like I Did.

Staff were amazing from arrival and throughout our stay. Incredibly helpful and all extremely well trained to be friendly and accommodating. Johan (I think) one of the ambassadors, John - one of concierge team at the front desk and Jimmy a shuttle bus driver were all truly outstanding and made our stay great. Giselle and Shanna are AMAZING masseurs- definitely book a treatment with them. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection and the different restaurants were also good (didn’t try the Italian). Most villas are based up very steep hills but the 24 hour shuttle service was efficient.
The hotel is isolated so a taxi is to get to anywhere offsite, but onsite activities and entertainment were plentiful. We did a catamaran trip which included mud bath (optional) visit to a volcano, swimming/ snorkelling and a delicious lunch. The route took in one side of the island including the twin pitons. A fabulous day.
A really great stay marred only by the one and only borderline rude member of staff who checked us out - Skyie. No reason why she was so unpleasant but thankfully she wasn’t the last person we spoke to - that was the lovely and upbeat John, thank you!
