Unfortunately, we went Labor Day weekend 2026 and it was very very dirty. Pools were cloudy, our room had pubic hair on the sheets. We checked out early and ran away.

Ameristar is a special place to us since we held our wedding here. Unfortunately, they do not make you feel appreciated in anyway. Most hotels and casinos will gift you a stay for your first anniversary. Ameristar does not. We knew that when we signed up, but it was disappointing. We still came back this year for our anniversary. When we checked in we let the staff know it was our anniversary and that we got married here, they told us they aren't going to give us any gift such as a dessert or champagne or anything. Part of what the venue coordinator told us was that while they won't give us a complimentary stay for our anniversary they will usually give a bottle of champagne and thank you letter. It's not the end of the world, but after spending well over 5 figures on a wedding here, a little something to show appreciation would be nice. It felt like we weren't welcome and that Ameristar is indifferent to us returning. When we went out to dinner the restaurant gave us a nice complimentary dessert. If my dinner can do that, I think the casino can afford it.

Don't eat at the restaurant. The food was awful. The service was horrible, maybe worst I've ever had. Couldn't get orders. Couldn't get refills. Server not once asked how the food or drinks were (they were awful as well). And it was an anniversary dinner for us and stay. Hotel pillows were horrible. The TV sucked (can't even airplay??) So much for a 5 star experience. Cheap and mediocre. Will never go back.

I was honestly a little disappointed with the complimentary breakfast. I expected it to be much better and more like the breakfast that is typically offered at other hotels. I was expecting basic hot breakfast options such as scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles or pancakes for the kids, but unfortunately, there were none. Most of the available options were prepackaged and processed foods. I understand that every hotel is different, but I felt that the breakfast lacked the variety and fresh, hot options that guests normally expect when breakfast is included with their stay. This was definitely the most disappointing part of our experience.
