West Auckland Ski Vacations

We stayed in a suite. On arrival at the hotel, we were told the room was not yet available. We were 30-40 minutes early for the stated check-in availability time of 15:00. As we needed to change to go out, we were provided with access to the hotel fitness room. While helpful, I can't help feeling that the hotel should have prioritised readying its most expensive rooms ahead of others. The room itself was nice, though a popped champagne cork, still in its metal cage, was found behind the bathroom door, indicating the cleaning hadn't been 100% thorough. The most disappointing aspect was breakfast where the range of available items felt very poor. Our rate included breakfast, but at a per person rate of over NZ$40, I expected better. The absence of non-dairy butter/spread meant dry toast, and in 2026, I think failing to provide for dietary/allergy requirements rather poor. Despite being part of the Auckland Sky City precinct, use of the other two hotel's facilities is not permitted - so we could not access the Sky City Grand's swimming pool. Overall, the staff were trying their hardest, the rooms and decor are modern and fresh, but the little touches and a few missed-steps left us thinking we'll stay elsewhere next time we visit.

The property is secure, and guests are provided with a key fob to access both the building entrance and the elevator. CCTV cameras are in operation throughout the property, which adds an extra sense of security. The location is excellent, right in the CBD and within walking distance of the Sky Tower, bus and train stations, shopping areas, restaurants, and nightlife. The staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Please note that you may hear some street noise at night, so if you are a light sleeper or sensitive to noise, this may not be the best place for you. Guests should bring their own toiletries, including a towel and slippers. The shared kitchen is well-equipped with useful appliances, and there are token-operated washing machines and dryers available. If you plan to spend most of your day exploring the city and simply need a comfortable place to sleep at night, this property offers good value for money. One suggestion for improvement would be to upgrade the rooms and bedding. Modernising these facilities would enhance the overall guest experience, and I believe guests would be willing to pay a little more for the added comfort.
