Clean and comfortable

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Girl at the counter was a bit snooty.
Location: Everything is close from this hotel.
Room was nice. Not enough of anything in the room since there were three of us. Had to ask for towels and tea and milk and something else I can't remember. My girls liked the room and thought it was comfortable.

Great Facilities, Great location, Great Food

Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: The service given by the friendly helpful staff, and the fact they do not charge extras for storage of valuables, and left luggage
Cons: If you wanted to be really picky then the tiles in the bathroom could do with being re-grouted and their were a couple of scuff marks on one wall
Location: Close to Holyrood Palace and Castle, back of hotel leads to the royal mile, city is quite compact so you can get round it easily good shoes a must
Hotel is located a short walk from Waverley Station in Edinburgh. The breakfast is great with plenty of choice although very busy we left it a bit later to have breakfast about 9am which set us up for the day, the restaurant and bar food are very good and compare in price to the local restaurants on the royal mile. Location is off the main drag of princes street and we were offered a quiet room at the back with no view although it does back onto a little church, or a front room with view and was told it was a bit noisy from the train station however this was not a problem for us. Take the back exit up the stairs turn left and this leads down to holyrood palace turn right and walk up to the castle both approx 10 minutes but if you meander browsing the shops etc it will take longer. Wifi free, personal belongings storage free, and left luggage room before or after check in again free use of. The room was clean and comfortable

for the amount of money paid the room was very basic. The room was very dusty with tea stains all over the kettle. I did request a front facing room which I got but not recommended as the room was very hot and had to open the windows all night therefore very very noisy- never slept much at all which wasted the whole weekend

Good hotel central location

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Very friendly staff. Excellent bar menu.
Cons: Reduce the price of rooms. Provide free parking.
Location: Close to Waverley Station.
Very friendly staff, particularly in the bar. Good food was provided quickly and you could take it to your room if you wished. Downside was having to park on the street at meters, but this is free if you leave before 08:30.

nothing particularly wrong with the hotel, good position, nice bar/restaurant etc, but when I checked out, I left my toiletries bag behind. When I arrived at my next destination & realised this, I rang the htel, 8 hours after checking out, to be told the cleaners hadn't handed anything in. My fault perhaps, but I do expect more integrity from a chain like Jurys Inn, a 2 star hostel, ok, but a 4 star upmarket hotel?, shouldn't happen.

Very noisy

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: The staff were very courteous
Cons: Soundproofing
Location: Fairly central
Needs signage and explanation to families and guests to keep conversations and televisions quiet. No soundproofing between rooms at all.

central hotel in Edinburgh in August

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: central location; room wasn't smelly; great that i got a proper bed, not just a bed settee (there were 3 adults in the room).
Cons: the room could just do with air conditining so we could close the window (Edinburgh during August is lively all through the night!). and the room deco
Location: sooo much to do - everything!
all great. we arrived early but it was helpful that we could leave our luggage and get out to start exploring Edinburgh. Again, on our day of departure, we left our luggage so that we could make the most of our 4 hours before heading to the airport. the staff on the front desk were polite without being OTT.
